The Death Adder almost had me till I saw those buttons on the side.

I guess you're right though, mice with lots of buttons are no more of a crutch then healbot or DBM or lolAVR.

A 15-20 dollar, 5-button mouse should last you a good few years. It's what I use.

More than enough buttons for keybinds.

I just prefer simple mice (and keyboards for that matter)

25 button mice are just god's way of evening the playing field when you sorry right-handers have to play against those of us who are superior-handed.

p.s. 5 dollar mice are all we have, good thing I have no desire to waste that much money on a mouse.

My mouse at home has 6 buttons (well, technically 8 but two of them are pushing left and right on the scroll wheel which I don't consider valid and don't use). I didn't buy a 6-button mouse for gaming, I bought it for general use.

Left and right button - obvious.
Scroll wheel click - pretty obvious as well (open in new tab, etc)
Side buttons - forward, back
Special button - reconfigured this to be F11 so I could maximize things, considering making it F5 for refresh instead

But yeah... sure, I also map all those buttons in games, but I use all the buttons in regular computing and internet browsing. I honestly hate not having the side buttons on my work mouse.

I have a Deathadder as well, but I am actually not that happy with it. I use a speed pad and the design of the mouse makes my right thumb drag along that surface. And I do use the side buttons alot but they seem to get all covered in dust real fast. I used a Dynex (Best Buy store brand) mouse for about two yeard and would still have it if the side panel had not come so loose that it was not comfortable. At work I use a microsoft wireless mouse mainly becasue it is what I use for work, otherwise I would have a wired.

I also have a G15 keyboard that I do not use any of the G keys on. It was bought with a store credit from a scanner that died under an extended warranty and I like the general feel of the keyboard, but I would be rocking a 10$ keyboard if I actually had to pay for one again.

There are symmetrical 5-button (and probably more-button) mouses, though. Also, playing lefty is technically advantageous in WoW.
