the blast just destroyed the outer wall of the nuclear facility, the plant was running out of coolant for the reactor so they blew the walls in an attempt to get closer to the core before it caused a meltdown.

Indications are that at least one of the troubled reactors has already melted down. The question now is whether the containment vessel was compromised by the earthquake. Japan is a small place, and the worst case scenario is that the containment vessel will completely breach and all of Kyushu will become uninhabitable. It's a longshot, but possible.

The reporting is sensational and absolutely and completely terrible in all cases and I haven't found any coherent facts that could describe the situation accurately.

How does kyushuu relate to the earthquake that happened on the eastern shore of honshuu?

the reactors are at fukushima?

Indeed, I have a slightly more advanced understanding of nuclear reactors than the average Joe, and a lot of the stuff I've heard people saying (I haven't actually looked at any articles) makes me want to punch them in the face.
