I am fully convinced that I will be one of if not the only one to survive any apocalypse.

Due to the sheer irony that follows me daily.

You cannot live without meat, weapons, and other people. You will perish.

My resourcefulness, disregard for pain and fatigue, and strong sense of self would allow me to survive on a barren world with few people, no biosphere, and an abundance of physical and mental hardships.

Much of what defines my personality are qualities which were common in the brutal ancient world but have largely died out due to unnatural selection in civilized times.

Which is amusing, because you said yourself that in earlier times you wouldn't have survived infancy.

Heard that hypothesis before, and I agree with parts of it. The "urge" to go from one thing to another (one territory to another for example) would definitely be beneficial for a hunter in a hunter-gatherer society. I had argued with the guy who came up with it (he ran a radio show) that autism would benefit the gatherer, and there's a logical connection there too, especially considering the fact of the amount of people affected by both.

The problem is that neither are beneficial in current society - well, some aspect are beneficial to certain occupations (science, military are some that I could see - I experience the first), some aspects are absolutely terrible for some aspects of life (education, organization of time, planning future events, remembering to take out the trash).

Gatherers? lol

Ludendorff was probably autistic. Same with Alexander the Great and the Gracchi brothers. Being able to approach the world as a problem is a definite plus for a would-be conqueror.

here's a theory.

An increase in people with ADD is nature's chemical way of saying "hold my beer and watch this"

I don't get this. (unless you want your beer gone and the person chasing and watching an ant for 2 hours)
