It Cannot Get Any Nerdier Than This

I have a fetish for 1980s technology. I saw this surge suppressor at the local Goodwill and could not resist the urge to take it home, clean it up, and put it to work.

It's deceptively practical. The suppressor rests on and not beneath the desk, so the cords from the monitors and PC don't go as far to their destination, so there is less unsightly cord clutter and it's easier to unplug things. One of the power sockets is unused, so I don't need to go under my desk to plug something in, either.

Logitech, in their infinite wisdom, chose to not make the base for their cordless headset double as a stand. So rather than suffer the indignity of dropping my headset haphazardly on the desk, I also purchased a neat little stand for it that conveniently fits right around the charging base and on top of the surge suppressor.

At the same Goodwill, I acquired a very nice paper towel holder. I had long been looking for such a thing, because leaving my paper towel rolls on the countertop is beneath my dignity, but I am stingy and refuse to pay retail. Next to the paper towel roll is some fresh baklava I received in trade for a Shadowmourne tabard.

All this cost me $15, which is the best part. I am very, very stingy and enjoy looking for things.

Truly, it doesn't get any nerdier than this.

At first glance though wasn't sure why you put your paper towel holder next to your cat's litter box.

We just got one of these in my town. I am also a fan of goodwill and consignment stores in general. Not only is it recycling, you can find some badass stuff.

I actually used to volunteer at a thrift store downtown, it was a lot of fun seeing all the cool stuff we got in.
