I'd vote for Nixon, he supported universal healthcare.

Shit, Bob fucking Dole basically proposed the system everyone's calling Obamacare. I miss pre-2000 Republicans (minus the abject failure that was Reagan). Not, you know, a lot.

It's silly to me that abortion is even debatable. They almost always happen first trimester, and no one who knows anything about biology considers fetuses to be people in any cognizable sense at that point, much less thinks they have rights. The ones that happen third trimester are because of horrible complications during pregnancy and are always intended to save the mother. No one uses abortion as birth control.

If you can't afford a baby, don't have sex. Sort of like if you can't afford the hospital bills for being mauled by a bear, you never go into the forest.

This is where I disagree.

We live in a selfish, me-first, society. Everyone wants the pleasure of sex, but don't want to deal with the potential consequences. Having sex without a condom would make you a lot more likely to make a baby than simply walking into a forest would make you likely to get mauled by a bear.

You cannot convince me that many teens and other persons DON'T use abortion as birth control. To many, I think it's a sort of "mulligan" if you will. When I was getting tested for STDs at planned parenthood a few years back (long story, I was with a filthy whore and wanted to make sure she didn't give me something), I overheard two women talking about their abortions. One of them was on her 5th abortion. Yikes. Society.

I agree that abstinence education doesn't work...we need to make condoms free and hand out birth control like candy to stop the retards from procreating.

For me personally, I have sex and I know there's a chance a baby could happen because of it. I take that risk. I use protection, but if there were ever an accident, I would deal with the consequences, because I'm a man, and not a selfish moron. I'm not going to have a human life extinguished because I wanted to get off and didn't want to deal with actually making a child out of it.

Society pisses me off sometimes.

I also never go outside in the rain because I can't afford a rubber suit for the lightning.

They won't stop themselves, if they care to even try to get birth control.

Do you do a cost analysis and a financial forecast of the next 18 years to see if you can support the child you might or might not have?

I never take the car out of the garage because I can't have it commandeered by some sort of Mel Gibson-esque renegade cop with his senior minority partner only to have them go on a high speed chase because they'll wreck the car. They might stop a crime or shoot a foreign diplomat and respond with a witty retort, but I can't pay to get my car fixed.

I compared myself to Nixon not in that he went to China or tried to implement "the Great Society" LBJ couldn't, but in the same breath as Caesar or Hitler - SOBs who overcame obscure and unproductive early years and a profound lack of personal warmth to accomplish their life missions. As a counter-point, I then pointed out that we live in a world that they didn't, with a strong herd mentality and force of institution.

Too many people are not responsible, and saying, "so be it" or expecting bastards to pull themselves up by their bootstraps is not a viable solution.

If there is no social safety net, then there will be a continous downward spiral in society - too much negative vertical mobility and no way back up. The result will be a poor and unstable society and that's bad. Go look at Mississippi.

le sigh...

Also, I'm pretty sure you'd see things differently if it were to actually happen to you. It's easy to say "this is how I would do it" but when it actually happens everything changes. Hell I'd bet even super pro-lifer (and retard) Sarah Palin thought twice about abortion when her own damned daughter was knocked up.

I'm sure raising a child through college would be a better time than going to lolCanada.
