They have higher publishing standards than the FOX textbooks, I assure you.

I would've probably done the same covert-ops thing except I wouldn't have used it as leverage to start 2 wars and restrict rights via the Patriot Act. Drone strikes on civillians in Pakistan would also be out of the question.

Let's face it, killing Osama is GREAT PR for Obama.

I don't think getting shot at (or, maybe more accurately, looking after those that got shot) by a certain group of people improves your perspective.

getting shot at (or not) is only a small part of being exposed to the vast cultural minutiae that makes my perspective much more accurate (though perhaps slightly biased) than MSNBC.

Verily, I have often laughed at weaklings who thought themselves proud because they had no claws.

Let's face it, killing Osama is GREAT PR for Obama.

Your Covert Ops would've failed on all levels since you wouldn't have had the Intel needed to track him. Your Covert Ops would be no different than launching drone strikes on Civis.

The Pakistani Government wouldn't have given us intel since they went through great lengths to make it more difficult to track and find him. The common Pakistani person wouldn't have helped us either since we wouldn't have had access to them, not to mention the Taliban/Al Qaeda have a pretty strong grip on them. Hell, we couldn't have even used SIGINT since the compound which he lived in for six years was wireless - no internet, no phone - so it's obvious he knows which ways we could've tracked him. The only viable option to track this man was by capturing his subordinates and doing whatever it takes to extract information from them and that's exactly what we did... and those living in Guantanamo were crucial to bringing OBL down. Even with the information gathered from Guantanamo prisoners it still took years to track him down. If I'm wrong, I'd like for you to set me straight.

Also, Rasmussen Daily Tracking Poll isn't showing any significant increase in opinion in light of the attack. I'm sure this might change when the video/photos of OBL are released, but keep in mind the major issues to Americans this Election isn't going to be the death of OBL. The Administration will politicize and milk it for all its worth but this little bit of positive PR isn't going to hide the issue that matters most to Americans; the Economy. If Obama can't turn things around with the economy and start creating jobs and balancing the budget then he's going to have some problems in 2012.

PS: How has the Patriot Act restricted your rights to do anything?

Hindsight is 20/20. the monday morning quarterbacking is nice and all but c'mon.

You can't say that OBL wasn't important at all and then in the same breath say OH WE CAN GO HOME NOW WE GOT OBL.

Be consistent.

I thought the kill shot went in above his left eye and I see no hole. Also, he received a shot to the chest but that doesn't look like a penetration shot... almost like a wound from a slice or stab.

Is it authentic?

Edit: Calling fake. His beard isn't bending against his shoulder and the reflection on his nose and the shadows on his face don't look right against his body.

@USDK: I'm unclear as to why your necrophilia and gullibility somehow skirts around the NSFW requirements of this site.

I find it amusing that the conservatives hate the gov't interfering in people's lives, yet they're fine with the patriot act and stupid shit like stopping abortions. Where the hell did these sillies come from?

Back on topic, I'm quite thrilled that he was killed. As a Muslim (though non-practicing), it annoyed me to no end that he was suddenly the first thing people thought of when they heard Islam was him. He is NOT the face of my family's faith, and never will be. Anyone who thinks otherwise is the absolute BIGGEST retard, and if it is more than one person then you're all retards and should die.

Ignorance should be against the law.

If everything from "enhanced interrogation methods" to the Patriot Act had gone bye-bye at the beginning of this administration like the President promised, we wouldn't be having a conversation about how great President Obama was for this happening during his administration.

Economic issues are still the forefront of election politics at the moment, so this isn't going to help the President's re-election chances at this point. If he reverses course on QE1+2, moratoriums on drilling/mining, and somehow squares his ideals with the Ryan budget proposal, his numbers are going to go up. Personally, I think he should trade on the budget by giving Republicans what they want in exchange for restructuring the tax code and creating one or more new brackets and making modest raises in the bottom rates while making slightly higher increases in the top rates.

You know just as well as anyone else that a wartime victory means infinitely more to the American electorate than another discussion about the budget.

We both know this means forever.

Let's be honest - Neither of us is losing sleep at night over the Patriot Act since we're not the people DHS is actively looking for. Sure, we might not agree with the measures, but I doubt we've been violated as individuals.

The point isn't about how we're being treated, it's about how others have the potential to be treated. Of course I don't lose any sleep over being a white male, people like me run the planet and that's not likely to change. I just happen to agree with Franklin: Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

If destruction exists, we must destroy everything.
