I never said worthless. Countries don't ask America to "arbitrate their problems" unless the problem is an invading army. If we didn't spend significantly more than anyone else on our military, countries wouldn't be asking us to protect them.

Your post does nothing to refute what you quoted, asking for help when you're being invaded only means America is a better option than being taking into the alley and shot in the head.

We've got a number of friendly air-bases around the world. Due to mid-flight refueling, we can keep bombers in the air indefinitely. We use allied airstrips not to launch bombers, but to launch cargo planes to refuel bombers we've launched from US or European bases. Missions in Iraq and Afghanistan were often refueled from bases in Turkey.

Right - but strategically Israel's bases are still worth a lot to us is my point.

Ireland vs England.
North Korea vs South Korea.
Israelis vs Palestinians.

In all those cases, the US was called in to arbitrate for no other reason than that they were simply the most trusted party. You didn't answer my question - who do you think history teaches us to "trust" more than America?

Irrelevant. A nation more worthy of trust than America proves nothing, both could be sinners or saints.

America has been the front runner in this kinda shit for a long time. denying that is pretty foolish.

That's some nice Cognitive Dissonance you've got there.

What did we arbitrate between the two Koreas aside from a war?

I'd trust Canada over any other country.

the ongoing border dispute for one. it was just a ceasefire, not a truce. that korean war is still technically on.

Sorry, but Aestu looks to be right on this one. We do tend to get sucked into playing man-in-the-middle on this kind of stuff. Northern Ireland and the Palestinian-Israeli thing both go back a long way. I think Canada would be great for that kind of thing, but they lack the clout and power the U. S. brings to the table.

The Irish thing was pretty successful. I don't think the Palestinian/Israeli conflict shows any sign of improvement. Closest we ever got was Clinton, and that got screwed by elections in Israel.

It's certainly true that Canada has tact where we've got guns and flags. And by that I mean they've got as many guns but don't seem to use them on each other nearly as much.
