I bet you think I forgot.

You're right, I did, but then I remembered, before I forgot again, and it turned into a vicious cycle.

I've been promising Kay I'd toss up some stuff my brother has been sharing with me lately. He's tighter than a whale's asshole with his money, and has been taking me shopping lately to make use of his giant stash of coupons.

In order to get the coupons you'll need to reduce your expenses, there are two things you will do. First, of course, is grabbing printable coupons and rebates off the internet from the following sites:

http://www.retailmenot.com
http://www.ppgazette.com/coupons.php
http://www.bettycrocker.com/coupons-promotions/coupons/default?afsrc=1
http://www.coupondad.net/food-and-beverage-coupons/
https://www.bluebunny.com/iScreamTeam/Coupons/Coupons.aspx
http://www.campbellskitchen.com/coupon.aspx
http://www.redplum.com/pages/Grocery.aspx
http://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/clip/Coupons.aspx

Some of these sites require that you download and install a program that allows you to print the coupons. It doesn't seem to do anything more than limit the number of coupons you can print during a set period of time. I've been checking to see if it does anything with cookies or sends any information to anyone, but so far I haven't noticed anything. I set up a separate e-mail to use for signing up for things, so if there's anything on any of these sites that interest you, I'd suggest doing the same.

The second way my brother gets coupons is via weekend newspaper inserts. He has a friend that delivers the Washington Post/Baltimore Sun to people way out in the boondocks. When the guy is done with his deliveries, he sends back the unsold newspapers, but the paper companies don't want the inserts back. My brother gets the extra inserts from this guy, and holds on to them until he can get the best use out of them.

The way he knows he's getting the best use out of the coupons he prints or gleans from the inserts is by using this site, http://www.passionforsavings.com, which tells you where and when to use your coupons. There is a list of stores on the right hand side, and if you click the name of the store, it will give you a list of great coupon buys for the week.

You can get a lot of things for pennies on the dollar or free if you follow the directions on this website. So far, using my brother's methods, I've gotten:

Free:
-6 full size bottles of body wash
-several months worth of deodorant in the trial size
-almost 100 loads worth of laundry product in trial packets
-$35 worth of Easter candy

There's probably a lot more I'm forgetting since we've been doing this for about two months now. That's not to mention all the stuff I bought for half or more off. The only down-side to trying to grab all the stuff that you can get for free or for pennies on the dollar is that you have to drive to multiple stores. Another down-side is that we haven't found anything to reduce the cost of staples like milk and meat (except crap like lunch meats and hot dogs). There is a store here where one of the bread companies sells day-olds that really brings down the cost of bread, but that's about it.

Another down-side is that you really need some cabinet space, because you want to stock up while you can, because you probably won't be able to get as good a deal the next week. You probably won't be able to generate the same benefit from the info my brother does, either, because he has the advantage of being able to get multiple newspaper inserts.

Hope that helped, sorry it took me so long to put it up.

Your Pal,
Jubber

We clip coupons and generally only buy things if they're on sale.

Thanks for the links. :)

That is pretty much what I go through ever two weeks. My brother calls bullshit on some of those "extreme coupon" shows, though, because he hasn't found any coupons for meat/dairy. He doesn't think you can really feed a family of six for $100 a month if you're buying the milk, cheese, and meat normal people would.

Of course, he eats nothing but soup, because he can get it (with coupons) for about $.60 a can (Chunky Soup, though, so it's decent).

Tell me about it. Fresh fruits and vegetables are ridiculous. I'll stick with soup, which is probably why I'm getting close to 25 lbs. of weight loss.

Only 40 more to go after that.

I lost 30 lbs just from cutting soda and drinking almost entirely water.

Awhile back I did the same thing and I lost about 15lbs in a few months... but I was also doing a lot of renovations to my house so there was a lot of exercise, too. Since this winter plumped me up a bit, I'm going to go back to water-only when my mini-fridge runs out of soda.

I use lucid dreaming. That and playing WoW instead of eating.

Was actually talking about lucid dreaming around the same time Aestu made that post.

In before Tehra.

I started working out again about a month ago, and eating healthier (grilled chicken and rice vs like sausage biscuits and hash browns) and have gained like 5 pounds.

I find this disconcerting. Also, I'm going to blame it on the muscle i must be developing.

Well, muscle weighs more than fat so it makes sense. When I lost all my weight I was on a 1300 calorie per day diet eating nothing but clean foods(chicken, fish, ground turkey, fresh vegetables, and getting most my carbs from brown rice with dinner). This was combined with cardio twice a day for 30 minutes oer session and lifting on monday/wed/friday. Even though I was only eating 1300 calories it felt like SOOO much food. Of course it also cost more. Well worth the money though. I went from 330 pounds to 220 in just over a year. Now I hover around 215 in the summer. Like many have already stated in this thread, soda was one of the biggest weight gainers. High fructose corn syrup to be more precise. Almost all drinks that are sweet now days contain this horrible stuff. I found the easiest way to avoid it is to drink water.
