you know i have heard her names so many times that i literally randomly have her name pop into my head during the day. wasn't until today that someone raged at me that she got not guilty that i finally looked up what she did and i've yet to figure out why the fuck this case has gotten so much attention that i can't even load up /v/ without hearing about it.

only reason she got off was because of reasonable doubt. it's okay, someone will likely kill her first chance they get.

it wouldn't have been such a big deal, but like most of the state looked for that little girl for months and she jerked everyone around the entire time.

There's a difference between "reasonable doubt" and "we can't find the smoking gun".

Evidence that the baby had been in the trunk of her car is sufficient to remove "reasonable doubt". It could only have been kept there if her, or someone else, placed it there. The premise of reasonable doubt would therefore be that someone else put it there. That premise, however, is eminently unreasonable in this context, because a conspiracy to frame this person is not "reasonable". No one had the means or motive.

What we don't have is the particulars of the "when, where and how". That would be the smoking gun, but it's not necessary if the rest of the evidence is conclusive.

There most certainly was neither reasonable doubt nor a smoking gun. What got her off was neither absence but the fact she was an attractive young white woman.

What I find even more despicable than this person herself are those people who showed up in droves outside the courtroom to support her. What kind of people are they? I really wonder.

I remember reading about this months ago (I guess it was news then) and it was only getting coverage because she was reasonably cute and white. I think it was the NYTimes though, so they were making it pretty clear how damning the evidence was.
