Can someone answer the following for me?

1) Did Murdoch actually commit the hackings or was it someone that worked at one of his companies?
2) Did Murdoch know the information being obtained was due to hacking?

I feel the same way Weena feels. Even on this board it's clear that people (left-leaners that hate Fox News, like Yurathul and Azelma) think Murdoch is an evil man... why not enjoy this horse and pony show in hopes it'll hurt his credibility... because then it'll just discredit Fox News, right? Personally, i'm not sure how responsible Murdoch can be for whatever this is all about.

I guess I'm going to sit back and wait for more information (or a conviction if there is one) before I start passing judgement. Maybe some of you guys should do the same.

Oh, I don't think Murdoch knew about this. I think one of his generals did for sure though.

Like the BP thing though, leaders are held accountable for the mistakes of those that work for them.

Has there been any evidence for this? If you are referring to the story of Sean Hoare, please keep in mind that his health had allegedly been in decline for quite some time prior to his unfortunate demise.

Let us not lose sight here; the spreading of unfounded conspiracy theories only contributes to the very pathology which you criticize.

I'm afraid this is a known issue which typically accompanies purchased mates (let alone imported ones). Caveat emptor!

Also, I'm not sure the relevance of the wife to the discussion at hand unless someone is trying to make Murdoch look bad but that isn't the case, right?

Well, yes, it figured he would marry such a woman....so in that sense I'm mocking him.

I think it's more interesting when you think about the implications their marriage and kids has on Murdoch's News Corp holdings etc. once he kicks the bucket.

She could potentially have a lot of power and influence. The guy is what...80? Sacrificing goats and drinking human blood can't keep him alive forever.

Yeah, Murdoch is a skilled programmer/hacker. He sits at his PC and hacks into stuff for leisure.
/sarcasm

...Are you seriously arguing that leaders and managers have no culpability for what they do not do personally? By that logic Nixon shouldn't have been impeached because he, personally, didn't break into the Watergate Hotel.

Eturnalshift wrote:

His response to this whole affair and the obvious bullshit answers he gave (as well as the fact he actually called a hit on someone) makes it very clear he did. He wouldn't have responded so zealously to this affair, coming out to London and being seen in public supporting the manager who was on-the-spot, unless he felt that if he didn't support her, she would rat him out. A few days later, when it became clear the evidence was stronger than initially believed, he made a 180 and fired her and called a hit on the whistleblower.

Fox News deserves to be discredited for doing something so illegal.

That's bullshit.

What you really mean is you are going to wait for a grain of doubt that lets you cling to your biased, ideologically driven viewpoint against a mountain of evidence to the contrary.

You would despise black people whom nothing would ever convince OJ was guilty but you're doing exactly the same thing for exactly the same reason.

The British Parliament chamber is a big room. I refuse to believe it was a coincidence his wife was in the right place at the right time to zerg this person down, and all this guy did was throw a pie and not try to stab him or something. How was he even let into the chamber in the first place? It's not open doors.

The only net effect of this is that it disrupted prickly questions and made Murdoch look like a hero and family man.

you're not waiting for any grains of doubt that would stop you from clinging to your biased ideologically driven viewpoint despite any "mountain of evidence" existing.

ordering a hit on someone? really? where's your proof?

this is such a convoluted conspiracy theory that at this point it's laughable.

My views aren't ideologically driven. I'm not an ideologue. For one thing, I don't identify with any political ideology of any sort.

"NO U" won't do.

Usdk wrote:

This isn't a court of law.

Do you have no common sense? Witness against a billionaire is "found dead" and the death is stated to be "not suspicious"? No further investigation or word on how or why he died? Are you a fool?

Usdk wrote:

"Conspiracy theory"? So do you think no one conspires? Do you think all things and people are above board? Do you think everyone acts alone in all their affairs? For the label of "conspiracy theory" to invalidate a claim you would first have to establish that conspiracies are fundamentally unrealistic.

There's nothing "convoluted" about it. Murdoch and company seriously broke the law. Then they tried to cover it up.

When you say "convoluted", you don't realize it, but what you're really referring to are your own efforts to rationalize why what's in front of you isn't exactly as it is.
