Seems like it will make it much more worth it to play as you'll be able to do dungeons with friends on other servers. There is also talk about being able to do cross realm Real ID BGs and arena teams, etc though a lot less likely.

Personally I think being able to do arenas with friends/chars on other servers would be a blast especially if it extended to raids because then no matter where your friends are you could play together.

You can google it if you want to know more or look it up on MMO Champ (Like end of page 1 and start of page 2 I think).

Thoughts?

Works only on LFD instances and not on raids or instances entered through means other than LFD.

As such its utility is very limited. Even less so since it's still not possible to trade gold or items across realms, so it's not possible to practice cross-realm protstitution.

That said, I actually used it to run some instances with a friend (also a goatchick paladin with a lot of mounts) I made a while back on MMOC forums (prior to being banned). It was kind of nice having quality DPS.

I tried "free WoW". It's extremely limited. The free accounts can't trade (even if the trade is initiated by a player with a full account), use the AH, talk in public channels, join guilds, or send tells. While it is true that if any of those things were possible it would lead to massive abuse, that's really a problem with WoW administration and not the F2P paradigm itself.

A lot of these new avenues offered by Blizzard sound good on paper, but in practice are so limited in scope they are nearly useless and are merely breadcrumbs for their own short-term cash shakedowns.

Does anyone think they will eventually let horde and alliance group together via LFD?

Why not have everyone on one gigantic server? Make the cities, zones and quest hubs super big as well, more like real life. That would be insanity!

Yes.

I don't necessarily disapprove. It makes things more interesting, and lorewise, strictly speaking, it's completely correct since the antagonists are enemies of both Alliance and Horde.

It would also be interesting from an RP perspective. There's something funny about Aestu towering over the flimsy belf healer.

Sup EvE?

But yeah, the reason for this system - rather than doing what needs to be done which is realm mergers, is:

1. Making money off problems rather than solving them
2. Blizzard's refusal to do any fix lest it be said that there was ever a problem in need of fixing

When they dip below 6 mil subs, they'll think about it I'm sure.

They already are. Out of the vaunted 12m figure, half are Chinese, and Chinese subs are basically worthless. They don't even pay Blizzard; a contractor runs C-WoW.

I'll kill every last one of you.

xrealm LFD is kinda neat, if only because I grouped with Seribus the first day of testing.

A sharp pain wracked her lower back, a few inches right of where spine met tail. It took her a second to become aware of her predicament. *Oh, Light, not this again...*

She gradually became aware she was being stabbed repeatedly. It hurt. Granted, it didn't hurt as much as being slammed in the face again and again by a 200-foot-tall Gronn or a three-skulled skeleton lord or a massive evil robot that kept babbling about force parameters, but it did kind of sting. Aestu reminded herself to buy more sandstone.

Willing her body, Aestu began to slowly turn, turn, turn towards her attacker - a Forsaken mercenary. His hollow eyes and jawless visage glared furiously into Aestu's cute complexion as he stabbed and stabbed with both hands. His vigor faded as Aestu rose to her full six-feet-eight. He stood and gawked. Aestu gazed back.

The rogue hesitated, then lunged at her face with both knives. Aestu raised her hands to her face in a protective gesture. A snap of light and the Forsaken hissed in agony. His attack had left Aestu unharmed but his hands burned. Again he lunged; this time Aestu moved quickly to one side, shifting her weight onto her other hoof. And again. This time Aestu raised one hand and the Forsaken again hissed in agony.

The Forsaken took a step back. Took a good, hard look at Aestu. The infernal black light in his eyes burned in impotent fury. He took another step back. And another. He loosened his limbs as if preparing for a duel. Put himself into a ready stance.

Aestu gazed back and smiled. She turned to one side and turned her butt to the rogue. Slapped it twice then made a gesture at him with her upturned hand and a sort of moaning grunt.

The Forsaken charged forth, slashing, hacking, in a flurry of poisoned blades. No witnesses were present and neither participant really saw what happened, but the Forsaken soon let loose an anguished cry and his life essence faded. He fell to the mud, dead once more.

TLDR: good luck with that

Alone...you mean like Nechra did, even while someone was being the Prot-during-Wrath loser in WG?
