My favorite anime of all time (besides Pokemon lololol) is Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan. It was emotionally stimulating, hilarious, and had giant fighting robots. And by giant, I mean really fucking giant.

To answer the question though, afaik, the salt would help speed things up simply by acting as a concentrated solute towards which water would flow to by osmosis. Water generally flows from areas of low solute (high water) concentration to areas of high solute (low water) concentration with the intent on diluting said solute. It can be thought of as a reverse diffusion, where water flows from low to high solute concentration (in diffusion, the solute travels from high to low solute concentration).

That's just basic osmotic properties, I'm sure there are some differences when using a human in a barrel compared to a U flask with a semipermeable membrane lol.

I've been listening to the Black Butler OST this evening and it's pretty amazing. I recommend people give it a listen.

Also, I had a bucket sitting in the garage from this past winter... and the bucket had some driveway salt that I'd keep near the back door so I could salt the walkway before my wife would leave the house. The bucket had a good amount of water gathered inside which I guess was pulled from the moisture in the air. The empty stack of buckets that I keep didn't have any water in them, so... does that make sense based on whatever shit Fanta was going on about?
