A filibuster is what you do when you know you'll lose a vote because the other side has a majority.

If I remember correctly, the dems had a filibuster-proof majority, and even if they didn't, they could have just changed the rules (as both parties have done in the past) to move any bills beyond a filibuster. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington doesn't really apply here. If the democrats had written a budget before the mid-terms, something they refused to do because of their election chances, they could have used the same reconciliation measures they mis-used to pass Obamacare to raise the debt ceiling before the new republican majority assumed control in the house.

First, Congress makes the budget and they can't filibuster... only the senate can filibuster.

Even if you're mixing up your words and you think Congress can filibuster and that they did because they didn't have the votes to pass a budget, that makes no sense since the democratic congress (111th) failed to write the 2011 budget. I'm sure you remember the big budget mess in early 2011 where we were passing continuing resolution after continuing resolution, which the 112th congress eventually wrote and got signed. If you're suggesting the Democrats in the 111th Congress (59% of the House) didn't write a budget by the 2010 Sept deadline because they were afraid they couldn't pass it (with Democrats controlling all three branches of government) then I just don't know what to say to you.


In the senate, I think they fell short one seat (59D/41R)

So, because they don't have the votes to pass a motion to call a vote, your suggestion is they pass a motion to change the rules to call a vote.

Prove it, sheep. We've all been on the record at one point or another saying Bush had a huge problem with spending and that Obama has a greater problem. Before you cite Bush's tax cuts as the reason we're in this mess, remember Obama had the chance to veto any extension to the tax cuts, which he didn't. Since he approved the extension, they're his tax cuts now - don't forget that. Before you say it was the wars, remember Obama had three years to start withdrawing troops (which could've been done by now), but he didn't - instead, he listened to the commanders and sent MORE troops into war, while throwing money into a third (which didn't get congressional approval).

Since Obama has been in office, the man hasn't increased taxes (to generate revenue) and he hasn't decreased spending from the Bush baselines. If I'm wrong, maybe you can tell me when Obama takes responsibility for his presidency?

What does a filibuster have to do with not passing a budget in two years?

The President and I agree here. You, on the other hand, I'd suspect would tell me the President and Democrats aren't raising taxes because of Republicans when the President had TWO YEARS to do it with control of the House and the Senate. If I'm wrong with what I just said, please correct me. I'd hate to put words in your mouth (as you often like to do to us).

PS: Good job sniping a small bit of my post; care to tell me when Obama (and you) are going to take responsibility for Obama and his economy/war/debt/etc?

Yeah the debt ceiling bill pretty much gave the GOP everything they wanted and almost nothing that the Democrats wanted. You guys should love Obama...even extending Bush Tax cuts..he clearly bends over for the GOP and lets them work his sphincter.
