So Jubber/Lucinth, what's Rift actually like?
In general, I like it. There's so much to do at any given time that I don't ever feel bored. Being able to level through quests/pvp/dungeons/rifts however you please is great. The dungeon queues are about 20-30 minutes for me as a Support/DPS but you can do Warfronts(BGs) and sit in a dungeon queue at the same time. You can have up to 5 different specs so if you have the cash you can switch in and out at will for whatever you feel like doing. Respecs are also dirt cheap as well so even if you don't have that much money you can still change on the fly. They made gathering the different souls easier too so you can quest or just buy them outright from your trainer.
Quests are pretty much generic, kill x of (mob name), collect (item) from this location, etc. Every once in awhile you get something a little interesting like closing a Major Rift or using some type of cannon to blow things up. There are some dailies, though in most zones it's just kill x amount of Rift creatures. The world event dailies aren't much different and they don't get you much but it's easy experience. You can get a mount if you're doing the current ones. I like the idea, basically you buy an item from the world event vendor at level 1 and you use it with another item gotten from a weekly quest/closing rifts/spending world event tokens and at level 50 you get a scaling mount. Otherwise it's cosmetic glows, a pet and some weapons every 10 levels.
PvP is pretty much what you're used to on different maps. I've yet to really get into it but it's pretty fun from what I've found. Can be a bit annoying when you're playing with bads and you're losing for no real reason.
Dungeons follow the same sort of difficulty ramp as you're used to. In the beginning it's more or less tank and spank, they add mechanics as you go on. Nothing super difficult but if you don't know what's going on it'll catch you off guard. I've died twice to two bosses because I didn't know the mechanics before going into the fight but if they told me what was going on I never had a problem. Healing/tanking isn't difficult per say but it's not exactly a cakewalk either. Especially if you're playing as a rogue tank or non cleric healer. In the later levels one of your dps/support will probably help you out. I know I offheal like a beast and healers love me.
Rifts are basically outdoor elites, but in events. You have minor and major rifts. Minor ones consist of 5 waves, you get a timer on the 3rd wave and if you don't complete the wave in that limit, you lose the bonus waves. The waves go: non elites, non elites, named non elite, bigger group of non elites, elite. By completing all 5 waves you get a little bonus loot and some extra experience. You can do some of them yourself, or at least I can. The major rifts are the same thing except everything is elite or super elite and the rewards are greater, you probably won't be able to do one yourself if they're the same level as you. Invasions are just random named monsters and a pack of non elites that run around and kill things, they try to set up footholds in certain areas if they can destroy whatever is there. They go away after awhile if nobody can kill them and it's only really hard when you have a foothold and invasion group in the same spot, unless you have a friend you probably won't be able to destroy it. You get some common rift loot for your trouble, but you need a lot of it to buy certain rewards.
Then you have zone events which is basically a bunch of rifts opening at once, they try to destroy the towns of the zone and you have to stop them or perform some task, it always ends in some super elites and some shiny epic tokens for your trouble. These events can consist of stopping invasions/closing rifts or collecting essences from beating invasion monsters and dropping them off at a point to blow stuff up so you can fight the super baddies. Sometimes the super baddies don't hit all that hard, but most of the time you're gonna need a group to kill them. More likely a raid. 5 man bosses at level 40 have about 50k health. The super boss in a 35-40 zone has about 300k health.
I dunno I'm missing a lot but there's a lot to talk about.
