The game as a whole is not different but the individual elements are - appearance/lore/itemization/quests etc.

Yeah, I don't see the point in playing Rift, sorry. And like I said, the EQ paradigm was already on its way to obsolescence even before WoW picked it up.

Sure didn't. I was referencing the "multiple ways to level" - considering you can do that in WoW as well, I was making note of the fact that gameplay doesn't sound any different at all other than obviously story and graphics. I'm not saying it isn't a good game because I haven't played, I just don't understand why people hype up how different and better other MMOs are when they aren't actually much different. To each his own. I generally drop other games to go back to WoW since most of my friends still play, so it's not worthwhile for me to put up the cash for something else atm.
