Power settings for USB or your root hub is set to turn off.
How would I go about checking the power to the USB - split a USB and take a multimeter to it? I booted into my BIOS and checked to see if there was some way I could change the power settings to different components (because I thought I was able to do something like that in my home computer), but I didn't see anything remotely close.
Also, I checked my device manager and my Root Hub says it's running normally. It says there is 500mA per port and other shit. With the receiver plugged in, it is showing "USB Composite Device Power Required: 98 mA", so my computer see's that I have something plugged in and that it's drawing power. (In power management, I made sure the computer couldn't disable the USB Hub while I diagnose this). Jumping up to 'Mice and other pointing devices', I am now showing a Logitech HID-compliant unifying Mouse, HID compliant mouse and my PS/2 Compatible Mouse (Touchpad)...
Something I noticed - when I push the received in the USB port all the way, the machine doesn't detect the receiver/mouse. When I pull it out a bit, the Device Manager will detect the mice. Even while detected, I still can't use the mouse.
I just plugged all three mice into the machine at once:
The VX Nano and the Microsoft Wired mouse both work. The M505 does not. I'm guessing it's just dead.
Before I buy another $10 mouse, anything else I should try?
