I have strayed away from newer Zelda games, Because Zelda on the 64 was magical. OoT was like, the fourth game? But it was the first one with three dimensions and the first one I actually played (I don't know if dicking around with bombs on SN Zelda with bombs counts). So I don't want my like for Link to come under what I call Energizer Syndrome.
Where you go from thinking something is an 8 to a 10, then thinking it's a 4 to a 6 because they just keep going and going and going with it, until it's bad and stale.
Not saying the new Zelda games are, but I'm not risking it.
twilight princess was the first major release one that left me kind of disappointed, and i've played all of the main ones side from some of the really shitty handheld ones. and not disappointed as in "wow, this game sucks", just wasn't as good as the others. windwaker was still fantastic, same with majora's mask. the newest one looks pretty awesome as well.
mario is the only zelda franchise that's had that effect on me. nothing has compared to 64. the galaxy games were good, but just not as good. metroid will never cease to be awesome because other M doesn't exist and the prime games were probably the coolest vidya i've ever done.
