It's already turned everyone into retards. I had to go to Home Depot to get some stuff the corporate office decided we needed in case the hurricane comes this way. Home Depot was sold out of flashlights and batteries...which is like, wow, there are a buttload of those in a Home Depot. I almost got ran over in the parking lot coming back to my car. I was like, "Hey, WTF?" The guy in the car gets out and starts screaming at me and asking me if I have a problem...which in even the most backwards of cultures is not the suggested course of action after almost running over someone...but before I could show the little weasel what it meant to call forth a god without mercy, his wife got out of the car and started yelling at him.

She was not a small woman.

So I'm looking at him, and then looking at her, then back-and-forth, and I think to myself, "Self, you could turn that guy inside out...but I don't think you could take the rhinoceros he managed to stuff in the passenger seat." SO...the guy is like pissed because I'm obviously not listening and he says, "YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME?" So I point to his wife, who is still mooing at him loudly, and say, "Buddy, I think you've already bitten off more than any man should ever try to chew," and walked away.

They had flashlights at Office Depot, but they were almost out of batteries. People are get fucking crazy if they think they're going to get a little rain.

Jubber

I've got a pond in my back yard so I already have a high water table... and with the recent rain, my ground is pretty moist still. If I get 6-10" of rain then my sump pumps are going to turn on to keep the downstairs from flooding... and if the power stays on, great! If not, I've got my 6000w generator and a siphon to pull gas from my car if I need it. Fuck what ya hurd - I'm not dealing with a wet basement ever again.

PS: I got my batteries. You mad brah?

OT: ShopRite has been fucking insane the last two days. People are preparing for the apocalypse and stocking up on everything. The store completely ran out of water, milk and bread today.

Florida broski here. I'm surprised that it didn't hit us that hard for once, considering that we haven't had a major storm since Wilma in '05. But it's pretty funny to see all of my fellow East Coasters freaking out about a fairly weak hurricane hitting areas that, as far as buildings go, are pretty hurricane-resistant in the first place. I mean, sure, I wouldn't recommend going out into the storm if/when it hits --- I remember watching, on live TV, a reporter getting smacked in the side of the head by a piece of Styrofoam that had been turned into a projectile during one of the 2004 hurricanes --- but I highly doubt that the majority of your houses/apartments, which are likely much more structurally sound than most shitty Floridian dwellings, will be damaged at all. Especially since it's supposed to downgrade to a tropical storm within the next day or two.
