Played the demo on pc, I'm just not impressed. There wasn't really anything unique about it. It will probably be an alright game, and 4 player mindless button mashers are usually pretty fun, but it didn't seem like the 'omgomgomg' type of game people are hyping it up to be.

Before I stopped completely I played 40k and whfb for years, with a number of substantial armies (friends with a comic shop owner's son meant everything was at least 1/2 off), so it's not like it's not liking the content.

An Eisenhorn or Ravenor game would be fucking awesome.

oh yeah ravenor, lets go for a wheelchair guided tour of the warhammer universe.

I don't find inquisitors interesting, and 99% of the books ive read(aside from those two series) they always end up evil anyways. give me imperial guard at least, space marines preferred.

also, gears of war sucks.

Ravenor was a worse series than Eisenhorn, but still pretty good, and it could easily be done with the player controlling the party and not just Ravenor. Eisenhorn would work a bit better, but I could see both being done with a hybrid-rpg style. The settings and stories were way, way more interesting than most of the warporn shit 40k fluff is made of. Imperial guard books are better than marine shit though, if I want to read about poorly written mary sues I'll go read some shut-ins fanfic, and I will have a hard time telling the difference.

They weren't bad, and I could see a game about them, the whole thing runs counter to the "just throw more bodies at them" style of the guard though. Obviously you can't have a series where every book introduces an entirely new set of characters because the last ones all died during the frontal assault, but it's just kinda meh. It took like 6 books for someone important to die. 15 hours was a book that did the imperial guard style better.

Also fuck Cain. It was good for the first and perhaps second book, but there is only so many times you can read the exact same shtick every damn time.

I like it (as I think I indicated in another thread) because it's pure, mindless fun. There are no chest-high walls you have to hump, health (and shields) regenerate through active abilities instead of while you're sitting like a bitch behind cover, and it's got one of the best gun + melee interfaces I've experienced in a game. Mostly I'm interested because it emphasizes fun over realism, and realism eats dicks. Also jetpacks.

all of what tuhl said, plus this:

I actually got the feel of how original and smooth it felt in fable 1 to switch between various forms of attack, and space marine has that times ....well, times 40,000.

Just played the demo on the 360 - It was fairly enjoyable... kinda felt like I was playing Dante's Inferno with guns.

When I was a kid I played the table-top 'Epic' game, which featured pretty much all the same shit the Warhammer universe featured. My favorite army was some Eldar and I had another army with Tyranids. Do you guys know if this game is going to be 'Spice Marines' vs. Green British People or is it likely the other races will make an appearance. I never played a warhammer video game so I don't know how much of the universe the pull in.

chaos is the only other one confirmed. i don't think much else will make an appearance.

dawn of war games have a ton of factions though, if you like RTS.

also they are not orky enough compared to this.

I had actually never heard of this term but it summarizes everything I thought was absurd and uninteresting about W40k when I read the wiki about it a few months back.

Also, it's amusing and ironic that the Wikipedia page about Mary Sue notes that the criticism of the term comes largely from feminists. Oh my god, your characters can't be infallible. Clearly injustice.

And I have no plans of adding any Ork sounds from Space Marine, on account of their poor Orkishness. I also prefer the less spitty-mouthed sounding Orks from DoW2.

Not that I need more sounds...

most of the way through the game, coop hasn't been implimented yet. frankly i think that kind of shit is disturbingly common that a MAJOR piece of the game is left out, but at least they're patching it in for free in october, or so they say.

still, the single player is a blasty blast. multiplayer i experienced some serious lag problems so i'm not sure about it. if they fix that then it should be great.
