You could argue that while the mongols may have not left a lasting impact of culture, they certainly made sure vast swaths of other nations didn't either.

The Mongols disappeared so completely they might as well not even have existed.

They had quite a significant impact on China and the Middle East

Quote:
Go find a degree program in "Mongol Studies"

So because you don't think they exist in America (they do), that's your argument? How popular do you think greek and roman studies in Asia compared to the Mongols?

Quote:
Go find someone who counts in Mongol numbers or a country that uses the Mongol system of law. They don't exist because the Mongol legacy was almost non-existent.

Hmmmmmmm

Quote:
And no the Mongols did not conquer "the known world". They did not get past Poland. Most of their vast empire was empty space in Central Asia.

Empty space and a quarter of the world's population.

While I wouldn't discount the Mongols as readily as Aestu is doing, considering Yuan-dynasty China, I think they get too much military credit relative to 13th century Arabs and Europeans.

Well clearly I can't argue with logic that solid.

Yes please. And not just you.

Honestly, if this is the sort of "thread evolution" that you anti-mods are so hot about, I would throw 100% of my support behind super-modding.

Translation: I said so, and am infallible. Nice Google.

At least when I pull a "nice google," I read the fucking thing. You link shit thinking it says one thing when it says another, which isn't surprising since it's becoming more and more apparent that you don't comprehend a lot of what you read.

Yet you can't, because you can't admit to yourself when you're wrong or completely out of your depth, so you don't know when to shut your smelly face-hole.

Glad you liked that one.

However...

Re-reading all that, I think I'm being entirely too harsh with Aestu, and I apologize for treating him so shabbily.

Whenever I go to Shaws Supermarket, I make a beeline for the discount bin in the refrigerator section. They often have some really good cheese.
A few weeks back, I bought a huge amount of blue cheese, really good stuff, for $4.99 a pound. (actual size of container is about 4"x3"x6")

Its a vacuous slander by the tax breaak lobby butthurt about Buffet's principle.

First claim about Hathaway tax issues is a quote out of context and out of definition. The quote "adjustment" refers to accounting - changes in tax rate and cateegorization are being actively actioned by the bean counters. That's vey different than actually being in arrears (which the article tries to imply but does not allege).

The latter portion is just a lot of circular doublespeak. They take a literal quote in the context of Buffet saying he pays too little and try to warp it by arguing about compound taxation; "the second richest man in America says he shouldn't be so rich but his argument is flawed because we think he should be richer".
