You haven't explained it at all. All you've said is you were kept waiting all day in a crowded room, so you think you should have been called a day there were fewer people there. You're not making sense.

Jury duty is a civic responsibility. Simple as that.

I can't serve as a juror (or so we're told as entering law students), but I do think trial by jury, if retained at all, should be limited to criminal cases where the possible penalty in question is 10 years or more. For all other criminal cases, to sidestep accusations of foul play or judicial tyranny, I'd have a 3-judge panel.

Any other dispute would be resolved as it is now, with the change that no non-criminal could request a trial by jury.

Like I said before, it's possible there were 10 trials scheduled monday but only one defendant pursued their right to trial by jury. It's also possible trials were postponed. The primary problem with your assumption is that not every trial that is scheduled goes before a jury. They could have drawn three or four lists from the pool on monday and your name could have been on all of them, but the defendant that was stalling and demanded a trial took a plea at the last minute.

Jury pools are only summoned every couple of weeks, maybe once a month. In addition, this was only the first day.

While judges do work different types of cases, they will all have scheduled hearings that don't require a jury. Every day but one my trials didn't start on time as there was a something going on prior to the start of a trial with another case.

I think three judges are more corrupt than one.
