I'm probably going to be the red ranger, even tho the green/white was best ever.

We all are obligated to post your official costume after halloween imho.

If you plan on going out in costume (with the sword) I'd make sure it's cool with local laws. I had a buddy get busted back in high school because he had a sword on his side and they charged him with unlawful possession of a weapon (or some equally 'wat?' charge).

The item in question will only remain on my person at the destination, in a private establishment.

Transporting is another matter >.>

Tie it in it's sheath.

It's what we (have to) do at Ren Fest.

I don't see how a cop can get his panties in a bunch if the weapon is firmly tied into the sheath. Not exactly a ready weapon.

put it in a bag or a box inside the trunk of your car.

a cop(here at least) can search your trunk with probable cause, but not open any bags or boxes without a warrant.

thank you for the insight, weena.

usd, i figured i'd just keep it in a box and carry it in that way. same laws apply here. unless there's k9, but i didn't intend on cleaning the blade with marijuana oil.

If you're still in NYC, the laws are against concealed weapons. If it's visible (and unusable, following Weena's advice) you should be fine.

Also if it's Halloween, no one's gonna give you any shit. At least not in the Village :P

Where i live, a surprisingly urban area in northern ohio, near cedar point, i see people walk around with shotguns. it makes me giggle because its not even a hick town. #related #to #lawsofweapons #Bush2012

PS that sword of yours (if it is in fact the same as the picture you posted) is totally awesome and I'm jealous.

I would have imagined it to ban even unusable weapons if they were at any point functional, or could be modified as such.

Like an orange tip weapon might be okay, but I'm skeptical that realistic weapons are permitted, even if they are non functional.
