Anybody know the average fine for petty theft? Any state would do, preferably the highest price if you got it.

Then let's compare it to the $30,000 to $150,000 for piracy as this email states.

Be a badass and lawyer up and fight it, countersue if possible for 'emotional trauma suffered' and use your millions of dollars made to set up an account in which the interest and compound interest accrued can be automatically donated to piracy websites.

I like buying games I enjoy. But I also like playing them before I'm able to buy them. Kind of a same system with music, except I just tend to buy my music in bulk once or twice a year, and pirating as a form of sampling.

If they're going to be asses about it though, I may think twice.

pretty much the only games i buy now are the Nintendo 1st parties. i really don't feel bad either given how shitty gaming is now. and dota 2, assuming it's not F2P.

Try that at Borders or Blockbuster or a law firm or any face-to-face situation and see how that works out.

It's intellectual property. What do you think gives you the right to re-negotiate the terms of sale against the wishes of the owner? How is that different than eminent domain?

Anyway, not saying I pirate..... But if I were a pirate, here's what I would pirate:

-TV Shows on premium cable channels because paying for HBO/Showtime is annoying and I'm not doing it.
-Movies because ticket prices are absurd.

I buy games. I'd sometimes pirate music...but only to get to know a band...if I really like them, I'd buy their album.

I never buy music, but I almost always buy indie games that I really like (I never pirate them), and I usually tend to pirate the big label games until I've gotten a decent amount of playtime out of it and want to support what they're doing.

I don't buy DLCs if I can get away with it, however.

The whole point is that I'm not stomping around waving the American flag screaming "FREE MARKET" and "RON PAUL", only to subvert the entire system that I jerk off to out of personal greed.
