Some started to enter the museum to demonstrate against displays of military drones used during the war in Afghanistan. St. Thomas said that one of the protesters pushed a museum security guard against a wall, prompting another guard to respond with pepper spray to force demonstrators outside.

BAWWWWWWWW
Sensationalism for ratings and website hits, fuck yea
Also:
Don't like war in Afghanistan? I know, let's protest at a fucking museum.
Museums are public property. The Constitution protects right to freedom of assembly on public property. Freedom of assembly would be irrelevant if it were ignorable.
"Pushed". What does that mean? Shoved? Bumped into him? He deliberately got in the way? Literally nothing? What? "Pushed" is a long way from "punched in the face" or whatnot.

Your freedom of assembly can't infringe on my freedoms. While you suggest we can just protest anywhere that is 'public', there are limitations to protest, such as if the protest is a concern for public safety (which I'd think includes the safety of public interests and objects like the multi-million dollar items within the museum) or even health concerns. That means protests can't get out of hand or turn violent. If this protester did push a security officer (in whatever manner that means) then he deserved to get pepper sprayed. I know you and I have a disagreement on an officer's capability to defend against a mob of individuals so I think this action is justified.
Also, do we know if these people were granted permits to protest within the museum? The point of a protest isn't to protest against whatever inoperable and inanimate objects that lay on display in a closed building... the point of a protest is to get attention (from the public and whatever officials) for a specific cause. If these retards wanted to protest they would've been more successful standing on the sidewalk (like most protesters). Since these idiots wanted to protest inside the building I can only assume they had other motives. If you say they didn't, then I'd ask if you think we should be able to hop the White House fence and just bust into Obama's bedroom to protest him... or storm a military base and just protest within the fences of an armory/ammo depot. It's all public because it's paid for with tax dollars, right?
Edit: Really? These retards are ridiculous. (Some other protest in Georgia...)

Absolutely not. I encourage protest and I love it when people do it... it gives me something to laugh at or it makes me wish I had the balls to join them... but I don't support protests when assholes want to start rushing public buildings and/or assaulting security officers. Like I said before, just because you have a right to protest doesn't mean your right get's to infringe on everyone elses.
The legal definition of 'Assault and Battery' agrees with you. Pushing someone with aggressive intent would actually constitute battery, which is a more severe crime than assault.

This also leaves aside the universal axiom that predates the Constitution: Don't attack with people armed with weapons when you don't have any unless you really want those weapons used on you.

Which proves the point, seeing as how the gentlemen in question didn't run around throwing rocks at soldiers or shoving security guards, and advocated against anyone else doing it.
Gandhi often used the tactic of deliberate trespass. If the worst someone can say is they were "shoved", they're creating a pretext, not complaining about a legitimate assault. If you don't grasp that then this dialogue is over.

Or they were actually shoved, which is a physical attack against some fat slob who is just doing his job, and it's not a "pretense," but a statement of fact.
I hate fat, bacon-stinking (rent-a)cops as much as the next guy, but that doesn't mean I should be dumb enough to buy into some hippy's bullshit and think the cop is the bad-guy just because of my personal bias.

Those stupid protesters, nevermind the fact that the confrontation was started by a conservative writer who joined the protest in order to stir up shit then mock the movement for it.
