The only addon that has been a crutch in recent years was AVR drawing circles for you.

i used to use damage meters just to see how much damage each ability does, top end crits etc.

but that was mostly epeen.

I think the general assertion that:

Good players can use addons and be good.

Bad players can use addons and be bad.

Good players can go without addons and be good.

Bad players can go without addons and be undisputed champions of retardation.

I think if not for addons, learning fights would be much harder and people would have less room to spout off 'lol this game isn't hard'

Server Progression would be much slower globally, but competition and talent among top US and top World guilds would most likely be concentrated among a few servers. Just my guess.

I saw that so much with people in 264 non heroic gear looking for groups in ICC10 PUGS. "Look at me, I have easily obtained 25 Man gear, that is indicative that I have a clear-cut understanding of the encounters and the ability to execute them"
