To explain, Charlie Hebdo is a French satirical newspaper that's basically a more offensive version of South Park in print form. This isn't the first time a European newspaper has published cartoons showing the prophet; Denmark caused a stir in 2005 with similar images.

I'm of the opinion that secularism always wins in debates over religious law versus federal law. I don't mean silly things like "OMG Sharia is coming to Amurrca" and the like, I mean the de facto autocensorship (in the USA, anyway) by major content producers when it comes to depicting Mohammad, or stepping on other religious taboos.
