Everything is just black and white. Black, white, black, white, black..white.

Someone's doing something fucked up somewhere in the world? Bomb them, np.

'Our economy sux' because all the retardedly wealthy people we have in office can manage their own wealth, but not a government's? Raise taxes, np.

Of course, because the last three years or so (2 of those with liberals in charge of both houses of the legislature and the executive branch) have proven how beneficial liberal governance is to country.

Last 3 years for me have been great. I got my insurance coverage extended until I'm 26. Thanks Obama!

I'm glad you'll have coverage for the next 14 years...if the costs don't skyrocket so badly that your parents can no longer afford the coverage.

You know, it's funny how filibusters are always terrible (and even funnier how you can't blame filibusters when your party had the votes to override one) unless your party is the one using them. You can't blame the other party for things not getting done when your party refused to write a budget during an election year because they didn't want anything that wound up in the budget used against its candidates during the election.

Jubber

It's disturbing how people can't/or refuse to see past the goodies they got or will get.

If we gave out coupons once a week to everybody for $5 to spend on Big Macs, what do you think the price of a Big Mac will end up doing?

The cost of health care will end up getting passed on to the tax payer somehow, everything always does.

Since you're just going to bleeding heart all over rug, I'll answer for you.

The price is going to go up, because demand is going to go up. Demand is going to go up because it's free.

Because demand goes up, queues will happen. Black Friday is a good case study of this. Prices are dropped, everybody is aware of it, and long queues happen. Now imagine if things weren't just reduced in price, but made free.

Not to mention, there becomes absolutely zero reason (fiscal wise) to stay in shape, there becomes zero reason not to go to the doctor for any little thing(except the long queues), and the price goes up (for the taxpayer) even more.

So then, because healthcare is viewed as 'essential' and the price went up, the subsidy is going to go up to cover the increasing price.

In which case, because of a complete lack of market discipline, the price will go up more. The customer doesn't care how high it goes, because it's free.

Should I keep going? Yes.

Deeper public debt. And once the bottom is hit, there won't be any healthcare for anybody essentially.

People gaming the system.

Government now has a good reason to tell you not to eat that, not to take those, take those, eat that, and do that. So long as it has some connection to your health.

1. It's not free because physicians are compensated
2. Supply is not inelastic
3. Public debt is no more inelastic than free market prices and it comes out of the same pockets
(i.e., why is it okay for private industry to raise prices but it's not okay for government to raise taxes?)
4. America's private healthcare system is the only and worst in the world.

Government now has a good reason to tell you not to eat that, not to take those, take those, eat that, and do that. So long as it has some connection to your health.

Private insurance has been doing this for years. How is government any worse?

If it were up to private insurers they would blanket deny coverage to anyone who has any family history of illness and force everyone to adopt vegetarian diets to keep costs down.

As opposed to the consumer. What's the difference?

The difference is that people (conservatives) don't want to pay for other people ho won't line their pocketbooks (anyone except the super-rich). Or even feel like they are. Even if they themselves benefit. The recent debate about the tax cuts expiring is evidence of this.

I don't get it.

Also, as Aestu said, don't many other countries have "free" healthcare and are doing just fine with it?
