I didn't say everything you posted was a bad idea, I said that specific part was. He wasn't going to get up and go directly to a doctor who would be able to give him all the answers he sought that day (blood work takes time). In the mean time, plugging symptoms into an online database could return a number of unsettling false positives, which is not what you need if you're having anxiety attacks about your health.

Well, I just visited the doctor, still need to get bloodwork done.

Bottom line, I just have random nighttime heartburn, he's prescribed some medication for a week. Then I'll stop taking it, and if the heartburn returns, I'll have to get a new prescription.

Healthwise, I'm "okay" but not great. My blood pressure could be lower, and he gave me a ton of shit for not exercising ("Do you want to die" "No" "Then why aren't you trying to stay in shape?"). My family history gave him pause, but he was sure to point out that it's not solely family history that screws you...it's family history plus bad habits IE: If I was a smoker, if I was obese, if I was extremely stressed and drank tons of coffee, etc.

Bottom line, I'm gonna get bloodwork done (curious about my cholesterol), and am going to purchase either an elliptical or a rowing machine to start getting that heart rate up for at least 30 minutes a day.

Glad I went to the doctor for the peace of mind - I don't plan on waiting another 2 years for the next visit.
