To add on to what Aestu said, when game developers actually do show some balls and innovation and design something relatively out of the box such as Guitar Hero, for example, it gets snatched up by the other companies that were too afraid to risk losing money developing an unproven genre and they lose out on market share.

Trademarks and copyrights only go so far.

It's about making as much money as possible with as little effort involved. Just look at MW3.

Pretty sure Guitar Hero raked a fortune, and have the power of words. In that, many people refer to any guitar controller game as 'Guitar Hero'.

Probably not a good example is all I'm saying.

SWTOR looks cool. It doesn't look $60 + monthly sub cool.

EDIT: The "good choice/smug choice/bad choice" dialog wheel is back from DA2. Fuck that noise.

I'll give it some time.

If it's still going strong in a few months, I'll give it a shot.

I'll be passing on it unless space combat and ship ownership take on a larger role. It's a lost dimension of Star Wars that I feel they really dropped the ball on.

The game is fun. I'm not pretending it's a huge departure combat-wise from WoW.

The story is neat though, as is the dialogue system. It's fun to do everything in a party of non-uniform alignments because it leads to funny things happening when interacting with NPCs. It's not a particularly difficult game, but most MMOs aren't until tiered raiding or PvP, and I'm nowhere near that yet. I'd explain it as multiplayer KotOR-WoW. You care more about the quests because you get choices, and the gameplay itself is almost (nothing will ever be equal) as streamlined and un-clunky as WoW.

Got it yesterday, so I didn't try space combat yet.

I just got the game Tuesday night and lets just say I am not turning my second wow account back up any time soon. I do like the story lines, it gets to be a bit too much of "run and talk to this guy, get a ---- and bring it to me" at some points but so far so good. I really do not have any complaints though I am only level 12. Hell there is even barrens chat and Chuck Norris chat.

The first like 5 worlds suck. As soon as you get off Tatooine though, it gets a lot better. Lots of kill/fetch quests still but you don't mind doing it as much as there is usually some kind of unique situation for the quest.

WoW Cataclysm borrowed flame chains, Boos and Booster Hill.

Did SWTOR borrow warp zones?

After hitting level 20 and realizing I am now spending hours on end watching cut scenes, I decided to cancel my account at least for the time being. The gameplay is nice but I find myself wanting to watch all of the conversations because they are quite interesting but then four hours later I realize that over half of my game play that day was spent watching people talk. Overall I do like the game but I find myself wishing I had just skipped this purchase now that I have seen it.

It's really fun. Loving both my JC and my IA so far. Wish there were more races though, really peeves me to see Togruta and Nautolan in game but unavailable to play as :(
