Like I said, when I make the decision to not want to hang out with someone, its because I've actually spent time with them and have come to the conclusion that I don't want to spend time with them. I've never decided to not hang out with someone for the sole reason that they disagree with me on a political level.

Why should anyone have to spend time with someone to know they don't want to spend time with them? I'm pretty sure I'd turn down an invitation from Andy Dick or "The Situation" even though I've never met them. Are you telling me that if Glenn Beck invited you to dinner, you'd go because you've never met him and don't have any reason not to like him?

On top of that, your argument isn't really valid because you're turning down invites based on the people involved. Tim Thomas said he was turning down the invites not because of the person/people involved, but because of his views on government. His opinion of President Obama as a person isn't a consideration if you believe his statement.

I also think it's a bit weird that some people here are calling this guy a dick because of the way he chooses to protest after a few months of making excuses for every bit of douche-baggery committed by Occupy protesters. Maybe if Tim Thomas had set up a tent on the White House lawn and taken a shit in the middle of the rose garden, he'd be more appreciated.

I would've gone in either case. How many people get personal invitations to the White House? A lot less than the number of people who don't, that's for sure.
