When it's just a few of them, you can ignore it.

But try living in North Carolina. You know how many large as fuck pick up trucks I see each day? And how many of them are lined with confederate shit?

When I'd hear complaints about how the Beauregard Flag "wasn't racist," and was just a way for some people to express their heritage (and I still have no idea what they meant by that), it left them pretty flabbergasted when I'd tell them they lost the right to it when they allowed it to be co-opted by racists.

I don't see any harm in it, but I can see why some people would be offended by it...you know, aside from the usual "I'm looking for something about which to be offended" bullshit that is all too common in our country.

Really, the reason the flag is inevitably racist is simply that it doesn't mean anything else. The CSA was never associated with any legitimate or worthy cause, and all that Gone With The Wind garbage is really just a massive apologia for the South's massive inferiority complex.

If they really wanted to show their heritage they'd fly their state flags from.back then. But they don't study even that little bit of history so why would we believe its heritage they care about?

Come on guys. Not everyone who flies a Confederate flag is a racist, bigot, uneducated, 'redneck' or whatever other incendiary terms you'd want to use to label them.

Where I live I'd expect to see Confederate flags flying all over the place (since I live in the uneducated, poor, cousin-fucking state of Virginia), but I don't see them that often. The Confederate flag I do see every day belongs to a family that lives in the culdesac across from my house. They fly the flag on a pole in their yard and it doesn't bother me; they can do what they want just as I can do what I want. If it would bother anyone (since the Confederate flag is this huge racist symbol, I guess), then one of the five black families that live a literal stones throw away would probably take issue. For some reason I don't think that's the case since I've seen them talking with the adults of the black families many times before. Hell, all the kids (black, white and the Hispanic's from down the road) play together, the 'Rebel' daughter baby-sits one of the black families kids, during holidays you'll find them blowing shit up in the street with everyone else in the culdesac and when we had those blizzards two years ago, everyone in the culdesac worked together to shovel each other out.

If these 'rednecks' start saying, "Let's go drag ourselves some niggers behind that there truck," then yes... they're obviously wrong. A flag on their truck, house or hat doesn't mean anything though... and if you think that they're racists or bigots for it, then what does that make you?

Everyone knows that the flag represents deep racial tensions to a lot of people. If you openly display the flag, you either don't care if people get offended by it or you're a racist. No matter which one you are, you're a prick.
