I have a feeling these battlefields are larger than what we're used to in WoW...

Large groups of players can only protect so many areas at one time, and since your world’s score is based on how many objectives you hold, running around in one huge group doesn’t help your world nearly as much as it would to break into a couple of smaller groups so you can cover more area.

If you have 1500 players in a single screen then, yes, it would be much hard for any computer to render that much... but if you have groups of 70v70, or more or less, at several points around a large map then I could see how this would be possible. They don't say what 'smaller' is so my numbers are just speculation.

I'd like to know how large these maps are... relative to WoW zones. Do you know Zaryi?

for that to work you would have to severely truncate the draw distance

I don't know that the draw distance needs to be any different than in WoW. When standing in the Crossroads (Barrens) it's not like you could see people playing super far off in the distance and not seeing them didn't break the game play.

Ah, it seems I made a critical error. It's 500 per map that can currently be supported, for a total of 2k players engaged over the whole battleground.

Apologies.

It's not sub-based, so it's less of a commitment.

That said, I'm super not-sold-at-all. Waiting for you fags to give me preliminaries, preferably non-Meowth/Zaryi so I can trust the verdict.

Not that I don't trust you two, but you've been fanbasing hard since the get-go, so you know :P

Monday will be a big day. Looking forward to seeing what TB and MikeB/Gamebreaker.tv have been recording.

I'm fairly sold. I'm not sure what I'll be making upon release but I'm considering a necromancer as a top choice.

Partial NDA lift for the Press Event this weekend.

There's no way I can link to everything that's been released, but if you have a favorite gaming blog/website, chances are they're going to be inundated with stuff.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Walking Tour of the Human City - Divinity's Reach

TB'S Wife's Mesmer gameplay

Dude Norn Character Creation

Excellent Article on Kotaku

Why? Because they are massive, sprawling, and filled with detail. Because they feel like actual cities, and not just hubs for player meet-ups or commerce. They are places to explore, filled with opportunities to climb onto rooftops, slip between buildings, or, in some cases, fall to your death. They're an adventure unto themselves.

The variation in human female faces looked pretty weak compared to that of the males.

If i get this, it may very well be the first game where i make a male toon for non comedic reasons.

With MMOs, and really any RPG I always had the philosophy: "If I'm going to stare at an ass all day, it might as well be a nice one"

I would subscribe to that, except i'm rarely staring at my character's behind ever.

Hopefully the other races let me make a chick with a huge booty.

"Ok we aren't such things and birds are pretty advanced. They fly and shit from anywhere they want. While we sit on our automatic toilets, they're shitting on people and my car while a cool breeze tickles their anus. That's the life."
