This is what Eisenhower noted as "...yes, even spiritual, power, of the military-industrial complex."

All things considered, a base in Poland or Korea, or a carrier on the high seas, or even behind a 20-foot-high wall in Iraq, are some of the safest places in the world to be. High security, no traffic, tight control over all goings-on.

What motivates the high pay is the "spiritual power" of the military, i.e., "IMMA DEFENDIN MUH CUNTRY AGAINST DEM BAD GAIS". e.g., Eturnal/Jubber.

You're doing that thing where you assume things again...I started my service in intel. I know what sort of shady, stupid bullshit we engage in, and I'm not now, nor was I then, naively ready to punch a commie in the taint for 'Murica (not say I wasn't ready to punch a commie in the taint, it's just that it would have been more for my own personal pleasure than for anything else, though I would have justified it with 'in the line of duty' if I could have). The real equation(s) that take place in the gray areas where the grown ups leave guys like you behind have more to do with picking the lesser of all possible evils and attempting to avoid (yes, that's right, AVOID) getting our military into shitholes like Iraq, Afghanistan, and if people are actually doing their fucking jobs right, Iran. Those "IMMA DEFENDIN MUH CUNTRY AGAINST DEM BAD GAIS"-types you seem to be mocking are essential to keeping the world from turning into a bubbling cauldron of fiery super-AIDS when that fails, which it inevitably does because, at least going by my experience, some people don't know when to keep their fucking mouth closed, or otherwise do stupid shit that is repeatedly beaten into their thick (impenetrable in some cases) head that they shouldn't do.

Your Pal,
Jubber

Well that is the downside. I was just thinking I'd like to be having sex with a woman.

Just have sex with my butthole and I can wear a really bad wig and talk, very poorly, high pitched.

HAW HAW. MA SIDEZ.

Aestu could handle the PT. That's the easiest part of basic. I've never served, obviously but I know more than enough people who have that would back me up on that.

The PT is designed to not only get recruits in combat ready condition, it is designed to psychologically weed out candidates.

I'm not sold that Aestu could deal with the psychological aspect, though I do believe he's extremely strong willed. Falling in line would be his biggest hurdle as far as I'm concerned.

PT is the least of any recruits worries. The psychological aspect which goes right along with the PT, on the other hand...

Getting me to follow orders is easy.
Getting me to follow orders unquestioningly is impossible.

Do you think we'd be fighting 2-3 wars of choice if we didn't have a bloated military in the first place?

Are you seriously claiming the raw meat who enter the military are those "grown-ups" who have the least bit of say in that process?

I mean, the very fact that you're making that argument - conflating the mercenaries who fight our wars with the people who actually make those big decisions - proves my point...you're arguing in terms of the "spiritual power" of the military and invoking the "servin mah cuntry" theme.

Aestu of Bleeding Hollow...

Nihilism is a copout.
