Like forever ago, my main headphone jack on the front of my computer stopped working.

I can/could still hear it's just really distorted UNLESS I don't plug it all the way in. If I just set it in with popping(?) it into place, I can hear fine.

Now, it's finally starting to annoy me and I was wondering if anyone knows what I'm talking about or how to fix it. Last time I looked around google I couldn't find anything.

Sounds like a loose wire inside your computer case. Probably either the mounting for the jack on front of the PC, or the contact between the front jack and the motherboard.

Try slapping your PC. If that doesn't work, open it up and examine the assembly and its connection to the MB carefully for loose wires. Or just get a USB headset.

I'll have to take it appart and look. I new USB headset would probably be good either way.

Plug it in the back on the mobo instead.

I think that works least it did last time I tried it but then I can't use my speakers.

Haha! I like this solution. It actually works in myriad situations.

If the onboard sound isn't completely retarded, you should be able to change the microphone or any other connections to headphones easily.

I mean I have a front audio jack and a rear one. Speakers use the rear one.

So not sure how that would help me.

My original ps1 got hit by lightning and the sound was shot. Now I don't remember if I was trying to fix the sound if something else was wrong with it but I hurled it like a discus into the soft back of the couch and it bounced of and smashed into the ground.

I plugged it in and sound work! Turn out it was just one side of the sound that was out, the right side still worked.
