Do we really want Mayo to be the 'head idiot in charge' of implementing and enforcing a ban hammer like the Blues over at the official forums? If I recall, that was one of the largest reasons FUBU exists is so we could talk about things and not have to worry about people getting banned. I don't like Aestu very much but do we want to advocate mods banning people they don't like just because they don't like them? Seems like a slippery slope.

How many times have we seen one of the mods here say, "This is where I stopped reading..." or "I didn't read anything in this thread, but I'm going to post a video" Why is it so easy to ignore stuff then but so hard to do it when Aestu posts? "I'm a mod - I need to read every thread"... eh, I feel like I've heard that before. Truth is, as a mod, they don't need to. The community has a feature to report offensive posts so if someone slipped some Gore into a thread that is fifteen pages of TL;DR, then someone will report it... then a mod can fix it.

Why do you need to put people on notice? Big daddy Mayo is going to send us all to the corner - ohes noes! You act like moderating a forum of two dozen adults is seriously difficult business... really, it's not hard. If you're reading a thread and think, "This is too long of a post and I can't read good" or "the direction of this thread has made a seemingly natural change in direction other than which it started, but people are continuing to post in it" or "This thread is Aestu'd oh fuck" then DON'T FUCKING READ IT ANYMORE. Aestu is annoying and so are threads that he Aestu's but you're the only one getting a sore asshole over it... and in all honesty, you do the same shit from time to time. HURHUR PUT YOSELF ON NOTICE, NICCCA!

I'd sit you down and actually tell you how every thread is the exact same thing and its hard to ignore 30% of the posts all coming from one person on the board, but then I read your post. Its everything you've been saying in Meta ever since FUBU started in a gigantic "I Don't Give A Fuck" sandwich.

This isn't a conversation that you're a part of. Don't like it? Make the same post about how I'm a blizz moderator or how it isn't hard to admin a site with 15 people on it (I don't think I ever said it was) or whatever dribbles from your fingertips that you've been making for almost 2 years now.

Put it to a community vote then.

Those in favor of bans and locked threads solely at the discretion of the mods, vs those that don't.

If this community is truly 'for us, by us' a community vote is the only real solution as far as I'm concerned.

What if Aestu, instead of making his arguement in the thread, took the quote and his opening statements and made a new thread just for such an arguement. I'd say this was a good time to use the Aestu section but honestly no one goes there and it would die.

We could just get more aggresive with splitting threads and you can do your chainsaw surgery.

I just hit "view new posts" and click the links. I don't really have anything against particular forum subsections, so that change wouldn't affect me but might make things more organized for people who don't want to read the arguments.

I think it may be time to discuss the situation again. I don't want Mayo just tossing bans or suspensions around and locking threads (and to be fair, he hasn't really done that until the ridiculousness of the Act of Valor thread), but...sometimes it becomes an annoyance. However, if we don't want someone to come into a thread and turn it into a pile of bullshit, we shouldn't pitch a fit when they attempt to start a thread for the purpose of it starting out and staying bullshit all the way through. It's probably also a bit of a hypocrisy to complain about the behavior when you encourage it on the rare occasions where you agree with whatever insane bullshit flows from the offending party's fingertips, because that just sends mixed messages.
