Grtz, you probably did the beta fill out sheet. Now you can be like me and launch the game once and realize you have no idea what you are doing and never open it again.

Yea, I don't know what DOTA is... never played it. If I signed up for it I'm guessing its because one of you guys said I should? D:

My new PSU comes in this week so I might do exactly as Meowth said...

The games fine, it takes a few matches to get a hang of it. If you really want to give it a chance play like 10 matches, if you are familiar with league of legends or heroes of newerth you will probably more or less understand the difference in 5 games.

Yep.

Douchiest community ever.

Shame you didn't stay around long enough to see the progression from "PROS ONLY" to "GODS ONLY".

To be fair, in Strand of the Ancients, I'm that guy who takes a Demolisher and goes on an underwater exploration. Sometimes, I bring friends and we take all of them and have a race under there.

I still play the original Defense of the Ancients from time to time >.> loved that game. Didn't like LoL at all though : {

DotA to me is at its best when you can play All Random hero games when you play All Pick games its kinda boring and if you don't pick certain hero's you are an idiot. If you like picking I think doing Random Drafts is not as terrible because it goes back and forth(1-2-2-2-2-1) and you can see what the other team picks so you can kind of plan the game ahead and counter certain hero's so there is a bit of a strategy element.

I don't have a beta inv yet : [ I hope it is more like the original DotA then all these trash clones(LoL/HoN).

Fake edit: LEARNING CURVE crits you for 1million dmg. Yea you basically need to play really defensive and keep your head on a swivel while learning how to play and the only good way to learn how to play a hero is to play that hero so its kind of slow to pick up I just kept to a strategy of staying back and building treads+ either Sange/Yasha(AGY/STR hero) or ginsu sheep stick(INT hero) and it worked out pretty well until I figured out what items complimented particular Heros, best way to learn what is good for who is to watch what gear other people have when they do well(but there are a lot of ways to play any one hero)

More tips starting out.

Play random if you can, you probably don't know what any of the heros do so it doesn't really effect you but chances are not all guys on the other team know the ins and outs of there hero either.

Buy health regen ring(or straight +STR shit if you are a STR class) so you can spend more time in the field then in the shops, the game has a lot to do with uptime. The more time in your lane the more XP you will get the harder it will be to get assraped by the enemy.

Go in a lane that has another teammate in it, hopefully he will take command of your lane. He can call MIA's, he can call kill targets, call when to go kill people and if he knows your Hero he will probably know you don't and you can pick things up that way(it could be "go stun X and ill fuck him up" or "Why the fuck didn't you stun X he got away ?!" either way you learn something)

Creeps and towers are your friends. You want to be in your lane before creeps spawn(there is a timer in a corner somewhere) follow said creeps until you meet up with the other teams creeps, if you have a melee toon and your enemy is ranged don't be afraid to just stand in the back and do nothing while getting XP, if a creep is hitting you back off and it will attack one of your creeps then go back in. The first 6-10 level's is all about not taking dmg and staying in your lane(you lose out on a high% of levels if you have to go back to base to heal up early on). Use your crazy math skills, if you are down to 1melee creep and the other team still has a couple be ready to pull back. If you don't have any creeps on the other teams side of your tower then stay on the tower and wait, if the other teams creeps get there before yours do get "agro" on them and then kite them back up your lane until you get to your creeps, the other team isn't going to fuck with your tower if there creeps aren't taking the hits for them.

Be wary of ganks. Keep one eye on your lane and the other eye on your mini map, if you don't see enemy hero's in other lanes be VERY cautious, its a good idea to make sure you are on your teams side of the river(if you are "winning") or close to your closest tower(when you are "losing")when you don't know where multiple enemys are.

Another thing to note is that Int/stealth heroes are generally "early game" heroes(high dmg single target spells) STR/AGY heroes(stuns/slows high health/armor) are usually "mid-late game" heroes. So if you have a lot of int heroes on your team and your enemy doesn't then its in your best interest to win the game as fast as possible and if you have a lot of STR/AGY heroes and your enemy has a lot of int don't get discouraged if you are losing early because once you get over like 15th level it should start to swing in your favor(assuming the guys on the other team aren't 20th level when you are 15th...)

So yea, STAY ALIVE and spend as much time getting XP as possible

Everyone in the DOTA 2 beta is bad, so feel free to play it no matter how awful you think you are, since very few people will have a basis to call you on it.

I don't even understand what DOTA is. Someone told me it was like the WC3 version, but that did(not) help.
