Back to the original point Azelma, Tehra and I have noted: your intent was never to talk or have a discussion, this is evidenced by your 'if you disagree you're stupid' comment in your original post. Before you rationalize your poor choice of wording, or try to make it my fault for 'crying' or 'being offended' (neither of which I am) you may wish to consider the merit in my argument. No one disagrees the status quo is unacceptable, at least I don't..but you ended any potential for a civilized discussion before the first response to your original post had even taken place.

No, actually it isn't. The entire point of that remark is that it is NOT my opinion but literal fact. The remark is the import of what I linked. There is a difference between taking someone's word for their subjective interpretation of a complex situation and refusing to accept hard proof of that interpretation.

Contrary to your BS here and previously to the contrary, you strapped on your White Knight gear and decided to get offended where no offense was intended. You behaved like a child, and like a child you tried to pass responsibility for your actions onto others.

You bombed a thread based on your own small reaction to half a sentence of a post consisting of several sentences and a link to several pages of fact. This was unnecessary, and it was uncalled for. If you didn't like it, you should have just said you objected to the phrasing or something. Or walked away.

All serious discussion is based on the presumption of good faith. "Good faith" was broken by you and ONLY you. Your insistence after 10 pages and unequivocal assurances from me who has a history of nothing but honesty that I had some insidious motive for creating the thread is totally irrational.

The proof that your reaction was without basis in anything but your own personal insecurity is that I hardly seem pleased with what has come of the thread. That is the "headshot" to your claims.

Even if your claims weren't baseless, which they are, I would ask what makes you think it is for you to get offended on behalf of others or to start a fight just because you think someone else is making a fight inevitable. Either you're wrong, and you started the fight, or you're right, and you failed to prevent it. At best you accomplish nothing and at worst you are purely destructive. So why do it?

I honestly missed your question. Sorry.

The answer is right here right now. You don't need to be Aristotle in the Lyceum for a discussion to be effective, to do its small part to move the glacier forward. Attitudes change slowly over time and there is no great epic argument to end all arguments. That doesn't mean that any individual argument doesn't leave its mark in a small way.

A beach is covered in grains of sand, but no grain of sand is truly unimportant so long as it makes the beach. If we are to assume that we are not special, then we must also assume that our actions are consistent with the whole: that they are part of something vastly larger than us, just like grains of sand on a beach. If we are similar to the other grains of sand, either we are making the beach, or we aren't.

A less outrageous analogy would be something like littering or tax evasion. We judge the merits of those behaviors not on the individual impact but the collective impact if everyone did them.

Over time, thought and speech will give way to action. It is no coincidence that all repressive regimes make a point of trying to restrict thought and speech. It is simply a matter of sufficiently exercising those means.

Does my answer satisfy you?

That wasn't my point at all. My point was it doesn't matter whether you were offended or expecting someone else to be. It doesn't even matter if you were right or wrong. The result either way is the same.

Either you caused a fight or failed to prevent one. Either you did nothing or you did less than nothing.

Winning a battle does not equate with winning the war.

My characterization of your decision to turn it ugly stands. It could have been either ineffectual or destructive but by your own reasoning nothing good could have come of it.

What about a basketball court?

You're so abstract when arguing your points, I can't stand it.

Well, a basketball court definitely isn't a court of law.

Her: "I still love that pi-mp shirt. It's you."
Me: "Thank you."
Her: "I want one!"
Me: "Tshirthell discontinued it"
Her: " :( "
Me: "Or you can just hope they bring it back in the next few days..."
Her: "... ok :)"

Also, what did you expect to find on a site like that, Aestu?

Quote:
WhatsYourPrice.com intrigued me from the very start because of all the hype it’s gotten since it was launched by the same people from SeekingArrangement.com. What’s got people’s panties in a twist over this new sugar daddy dating site? Well, it’s probably the blatant honesty that’s freakin’ everyone out. This doesn’t work like your average dating site where you register and then pay a membership to get the most from the service. The deal here is that you offer payment to the people that you want to date and if your offer is accepted, then you get to arrange your first date with that person. We all know that a sugar daddy-sugar baby relationship is based around money. The sugar baby is rewarded financially for the time she devotes to her sugar daddy, but for some reason putting it out there with tag lines like “For the Generous – Date beautiful people – Guaranteed” and “For the Attractive – Get Paid for Dating – Guaranteed”, has got some people upset. Well, I say kudos for the honesty and clarity! This honest and real approach is the same reason why I appreciated their other site in the first place so how can I not marvel at the fact that WhatsYourPrice.com takes it a step further?

UPSTANDING MORAL ANGRY DEFENDERS OF HONOR AND INTEGRITY.

I should make an organization called UMAD OHAI just for that.

I don't get the photo.

I mean, I see founding fathers, and one is gesturing to Obama....while the others are gesturing to some kid on a bus bench. Is it supposed to be some comment on the economy or the 99%?

Anyway, I just wanted to poke my head in here and say for once, I haven't engaged Aestu in a huge back and forth circle jerk...I deserve some sort of medal....or at least a pat on the head.

It's a really poorly done propaganda piece. Obama's standing on the constitution, the progressive presidents are applauding while the conservative presidents are concerned about the 'average man'.

Ahhh thanks for the clarification there.

We all know conservatives are all about the average man, eh Mitt Romney?

Quote:
Vice President Joe Biden addressed 87 wealthy Democrats last night attending a fundraiser at the home of Sen. John Kerry in Georgetown. As they dined on grass-fed New York strip steaks and white truffle mashed potatos underneath a outdoor tent, Biden criticized Republicans for being out of touch.

“These guys don’t have a sense of the average folks out there,” Biden said according to the pool report, “They don’t know what it means to be middle class.”

87 guests paid a minimum of $10,000-per-couple to attend the dinner.

Having a dinner where it costs $5000/plate isn't saying, "I understand the 'average man', guys!" Mind you, President Obama and Vice President Biden frequently have fund-raising dinners which cost guests upwards of $38,000/plate... but, hey... let's hate on Mittens because he's rich and powerful... like most of the other Presidents.

A nice little opinion piece: http://washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/o ... ich/130281
