I'm just saying the crime rates in pilsen are generally higher than the places I listed, that is undeniable fact. And, having traveled to Pilsen quite a few times, true, it is mostly nice Hispanic families living there, which I have no problem with - but if you're not Hispanic you can sometimes face discrimination:

To that point, I was walking back kinda drunk to the L in Pilsen one night and some hispanics in a muscle car started yelling at me (I assume they were bored and trolling) and I was scared.

So yes, I probably am a bit of a wuss about leaving my white yuppie bubble.

yeah better part of 4 months living in chicago and my only truly ethnic experience i can quote is living in Flint for 5 years(hi5 being raised in the suburbs i suppose). But yeah....ethnic food = awesome, ethnic neighborhoods on the other hand I have no idea, so probably a bit of discomfort living in one for the summer.

Flint, IL? like out there by Quincy? I wouldn't call that the suburbs. i'd call it BFE. unless you're talking about Flint, MI in which case i'd call you metal as fuck.

Madison, WI for like 13 years and then 15 minutes outside Flint, MI for 5.... surprisingly Flint wasn't as bad as people make it out to be....hell i walked around Detroit at 4 AM with some friends over Memorial Day weekend and didn't run into anything (outside an awesome Greek Deli owner kicking some loud distinguished Nigerian gentlemen out of his deli as we went in to get food.)
