But it makes no sense to me (or to anyone, from what I've gathered) for the cap to be 4 and not 8.
Or why not 16?
I'm fine with the four person cap. There isn't a huge need for a ton of people since all classes are foremost damage dealers (so party composition isn't as important as past Diablos), player builds can change on a whim and there is still a scaling difficulty (325% Difficulty for full party)... it just doesn't scale past four players.

I would, but it goes live 3 AM Eastern which means by the time it's downloaded, I'll be passed out.
If you pre-purchased the digital copy you can download and patch today, meaning when the servers do go live you'll be ready to go. That is, if the login and character servers can survive.
My personal feelings about the game -- I really enjoyed the open beta a few weeks back. I like how they took out Scrolls of Identifying or whatever... and I also like how they made it easy to transport between town, way points and your party members. It was nice not worrying about people ninja-looting your shit (since everyone gets their own drops) and the shared Gold/Stash was good for starting up a third character. I thought the artistic styling was well done, too. "Wah, not dark and gritty enough!" Meh, it was plenty fine for me when my Barb would explode corpses and send bloody piles of Risen flesh flying across the screen.
The one thing I didn't like is the leveling scale. In a single play-through in the Open Beta I could make it from start to end, achieving level 10 with the death of the skeleton king. It's been said that the Open Beta is only about 1/4 of Act 1, so if I can achieve 1/6th of my max character Level in a quarter of the first quarter of the game... that just feels wrong. I'm hoping they increased experience during the open beta so people could see more skills of the five classes or that the experience curve in later levels get's much, much steeper.
