Is a "Nintendo Zone" just a generic Wifi location on Nintendo's list of known Wifi locations or does it actually have proprietary Nintendo content specific to the connection?

And does it work with the DS or just the 3DS?

As far as I can tell generic wifi and some access to news and demos and stuff. 3ds only.

Playing with Pokemon breeding...I am still working my way through HeartGold and before the sixth Gym I decided to breed an Exeggcutor. No other reason than that I really like that one. Strong offense but too many weaknesses to be generally viable, certainly not for PvP. I just think Exeggcutor is cool.

40 hatches later, I produced a Quiet male Exeggcute with Synthesis, Confusion and Bullet Seed. Its stats are decent but less than Perfect, but I'll rebreed it later when I have the Held items that make efficient IV breeding possible.

I gave it a Leaf Stone and named it Allen.

I always thought Exeggcutor was a pretty effective Pokemon.

In Black/White, there is a fluffy bat like thing called Woobat. I caught one awhile back, modest nature. His name is Ernie.

Ernie kicks ass.

Wouldn't the fact that it's weak against seven types (several of them quite common) make it a liability in PvP? Or are only double-weaknesses a problem?

I mean, I don't know, I'm just speculating.

It does matter but for the most part Psychic counters the Grass weaknesses and Grass counters the Psychic weaknesses.
Not for super effective but if an Exeggcutor Solar Beams or uses Psychic on you, it's going to hurt super effective or not.
If memory serves correctly, not a lot of common types have a good Special Defense stat, which gives Exeggcutor a big advantage.
You might not one shot them, but you'll probably kill them before they kill you.

Pretty much. Can't be helped, can it?

That's a really good question. Maybe I overthink things?

Oh, I went and got White. I had no choice as to the starting Pokemon, of course.

If memory serves correctly, Exeggutor had the 5th highest special attack stat in gen 2, tied with Moltres. He has so many weaknesses because he really packs a punch. You could make him a sunny day-er, with both synthesis to help with his health and solar beam for STAB.

Special Sweeper all the way. Use something with less weakness to setup combos.

Playing a bit through Pokemon White.

It inherits the more Wii-like, isometric feel of HeartGold, but the environment, the gameplay and the tuning is far smoother. From the little I've seen, I think it might be the best game in the series. I especially like that it borrows the artistic style and layout of Star Ocean - in fact, many of the NPCs and environments are almost exactly the same, although not obviously so.

I don't like that the UI often feels a bit more over-engineered and cluttered than it has to be, and it's still not as quick or responsive as the GBA versions, although it's completely faster than HeartGold.

Impatient, I bought this copy new at Gamestop for $34.99. They were selling used copies (without box or manual) of HeartGold/SoulSilver for $29.99 and Pearl/Diamond for $14.99. Wtf? Can someone explain this pricing to me?

Gold/Silver are the best games in the series, by far.

Also my girlfriend brought me home Soul Silver. Need any of those exclusives for your Pokedex?

No, but thanks - I don't plan on finishing out HeartGold, just trading them forward to White. Or are there enough people who prefer to stick with Gen 4 that it's worthwhile?

Either way, Coliseum/XD/Emerald cover most of the holes in HeartGold.

After I get my GlobalLink code tomorrow, I think I'll start a sticky thread so we can all share our codes and nerd it up wirelessly.

Soul Silver is my favorite, but that could be the nostalgia speaking.

I can't get the damn WiFi working.

I went and tried the hotspots listed on the site...the one at McDonalds (which a Google search indicates is no longer supported but shows up on the spot finder utility all the same) and three others. Got an error message each time, 20100 in two cases and 52100 (I think) in two other cases.

-_-

I think the problem causing the 20100 might be captive portals. I don't fking know.

How do I do this easy? Is there a franchise or something that offers easy connectivity?
