I'll be starting a collection to have a plaque made with this statement and mailed to Aestu. PM me if you'd like to donate.

Cmon, it was a three pipe problem at most.

You obviously never played Lost Levels with the three-pipe warp zones leading backwards.

By the time you see them, it's too late. Your only choice is how far back you will go.

zaryi, to me it seems the simplest answer is generally the right one. there's a truck going by, and one of those shop tents is also below him. i also find it interesting that he told John to stay RIGHT where he was, knowing that John was obscured from the eventual impact site, and would be slowed by the biker (employed by sherlock). i think he jumped, fell into a tent or on top of a truck, or a combination of the two, landed on the ground with enough force to convince a curious passerby, fake blood, etc. also, you can see john trying to take his pulse but someone pulls him away before he can. with some help from molly, voila.

what do you think?

Yah, that's petty much what I was thinking, and it was only further solidified by this video which lays everything out very neatly.

oooo yeah that makes even more sense with the impostor moriarty used to steal the children. where else would a look-a-like thug moriarty no longer needed end up? in molly's mortuary! it's so hard to keep in mind that sherlock picked the meeting spot, so in theory, every single person on the street could have been helping him.

I wonder if Moriarty was influenced by an actual ancestor of mine or if it was just a name.

But Moriarty accepted the spot. So it's no less likely that anyone could be helping him.

Don't forget, Sherlock also has The Code, meaning he could have used it to make the imposter think he was following Moriarty's instructions, obeying a remote command to show up.

See, this is why it's not true mystery - there are no "knowns".

"the code" is actually nothing, which moriarty admits towards the end of the episode. just another part of his plan. whether this is a lie or not still remains to be seen.

ethan, you might as well just watch the show. if you can somehow turn off your Jeffrey Dahmer switch for an hour or so, you might enjoy it. also, you could add to the discussion with a little more color.

Again - it's not a mystery if there aren't knowable facts, and it's not even a drama if the characters aren't clearly defined and behave in characteristic ways.

Makes absolutely no sense. If I keep my Jeffery Dahmer switch on, I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy the criminal drama more, have more psychotically colorful contributions AND offer more qualified, first-hand knowledge of the workings of the criminally insane mind.

jeffrey dahmer wasn't psychotic. or insane. he just couldn't connect to humanity in any way.

And in that class you learned that someone who drilled holes into the skulls of still-living victims to inject acid to turn them into zombies, ate parts of other victims, and tortured small animals, wasn't psychotic or insane?

Cannibalism and animal torture (the latter in particular) are typical symptoms of antisocial personality disorder. The urge to drill or otherwise manipulate the skull to manipulate perceived spirits within is a typical symptom of schizophrenia (e.g., "tin foil hat"). The fact he built a demonic altar and claimed spiritual motivations for his behavior corroborate him being schizophrenic (motivated by voices etc)

So what's the basis for saying this guy wasn't psychotic?
Let me ask you, if he wasn't psychotic, what would qualify as psychotic?

If you still have the textbook - quote for us where it says he wasn't psychotic.
And no, the fact that he was judged "fit to stand trial" doesn't count for shit.
