Absolutely no way. Chinas will give you a run for your money. Gold farming in any game is incredibly low yield for just that reason and if anything a free market will cause prices to plummet even further.
The nominal yield of gold farming in any game is a fraction minimum wage, due to market forces. It will be even less in D3.

I would attribute it to Day 1. All games seem to have decent community on Day 1 (well, except maybe SWTOR) because everything is new and interesting and people are happy to be playing the game. It will fade fast.
