That a game that requires buying gear off the AH for progression (most games do not) and has a direct and competitive cash incentive to farm resources aggressively (no game ever has) will have utterly galvanic inflation.

Then again, since you thought I was referring to dollars and that negative and positive contentions are the same thing, it's likely this will be just as lost on you.

Working as intended.

Sounds like someone hasn't actually tried demon hunter.

I'm perfectly willing to believe it's easier. It is not, however, easy. And if you don't have room to kite, kiss your ass goodbye.

I have a 60 Monk and Demon Hunter.

I don't even need room to kite, I just need enough Discipline to hit Smoke Screen.

Considering that I don't give a damn about D3 or how drops happen I'll consider you half right. Dungeon Defenders has the same thing with gear, but you don't need to beat each wave to obtain gear a tier up, just hope for that ~1-2% chance off a standard mob and try not to get gibbed while looting.

how often could you not play D2 because of "maintenance"? why is the original bnet better then this.

i don't know, i've been playing on a friend's account because they all already uninstalled when they concluded that inferno is quite literally impossible without auction housing (what the game is built around, there is a blue post saying the drop rates are fucked to favor the AH because lolrealmoney) and that certain classes just can't do it. it's not as bad as my blizzard hatred would let me believe, but it's what i've told everyone else. if it didn't have Diablo in the title, most the people who bought it would be slamming the shit out of it, especially when torchlight 2 is better, and doesn't have half the bullshit.

Inferno is fun. My WD likes getting carried by Al's Barb while kiting.

It's tough work sometimes. Something's gotta break.

But you know it will be worth it.

Inferno is doable with the AH. That just speeds up how fast you can do it.

I think they already admitted to how fuckered-up Inferno is, considering from what I've heard, you pretty much can't play a monk or a barb in them without ranged support. I was talking to someone (i don't remember who) and they were talking about how they were using the current Inferno as a way to find out and destroy all of the gimmick builds (read: mages and demon hunters) have that make them faceroll through content, then rebalance inferno and have the other 3 classes catch up to them.

We're also talking about the hardest difficulty in a game that's been out for less than a month. If there are still the massive amounts of problems in a couple weeks that there are now, I'll start complaining. Until then, its like complaining about the original TBC heroics when you were walking into them with level 70 quest blues and greens.

EDIT: I'm putting it at 50/50 that the RMAH is going to destroy this game, though.

Meh that is part of what I don't like about the game. Balancing it so people don't beat it in the first month. It's not an MMO, it's a single player/Co-Op game. Most single player/Co-Op based games I've played are beatable in 30-70hours. It shouldn't matter if you are playing a couple hours a night and playing for a month or playing 12 hours a day and doing it in a week.

The whole game is based around you playing the RMAH for days on end and making them oodles of money in the process. Not really my thing as I hardly ever use the WoW-AH : [

From a totally nontechnical standpoint, original b.net had chatroom support, didn't blow up or error37 nearly so often, and had downtime once every couple months instead of once or twice a week.

D2 numbers spiked around 1.5M players simultaneously which is less than D3's dealing with, but that was 12 years ago. And I guess it was split into USEast/USWest/etc to reduce server load, whereas D3 has all of North America/Oceania on the same set (this is an assumption I'm making because I can join Spacehunter's games).

I hope you're not using the "Public Game" counter as a reference for how many people are playing. Theirs definitely way more playing that than, it has to be in the millions, there were something like 4 million playing on the first day alone. I'm sure old Battle.net games like Starcraft and Diablo 2 didn't really have much information to transfer either, like today's games. Hell you could play on dial-up. They are practically two totally different systems, don't really think they are comparable just because they have the same name.
