The point of the quote was to illustrate that $1.00 will buy you more calories (and make you more full) if you get the unhealthy shit. If you're barely making ends meet, you will go for the extra calories so you're full longer. Plain and simple. Also, sharing a steak with your wife? I don't think many people could be satisfied with that. Sure, it works for you, and that's wonderful, but it's unrealistic to expect something like that is a reasonable solution for everyone.
