Have any of you ever worked two near full time jobs?(About 70 hours a week.) Got any tricks or good information for a guy who is about to do so?

I really need the money.

barbacking is a good job if you can stand the hours. working til 4 am is shit, but its summer so shouldn't impact your schedule. cash in hand every night.

UPS master race. I'll get a photo with my uniform one day and post it.

Actually, if you aren't a weakling it can be alright. I worked midnights ~11:30-3:30/4:00am five days a week while going to school every day for 7 hours or something. The first month or two sucks ass as you get used to it. But if you are after straight cash then I wouldn't since pay is low starting but you get great benefits after a period of time. Though you can get ~5k per year or something for attending school if you submit the classes during each semester. One check I got was $1200.

i'm currently a full-time student and a full-time employee -- does that count?
Also, need money? Learn computers. I'm currently making $16/hr and had an interview for another job today that is going to pay $20/hr + bonuses.
Note: I haven't even graduated from Community College yet.

I've got my current job and just landed a Student Assistant IT job.
Working both is gonna be like 70 hours a week.

I more or less meant food/sleep/other things like that, since it's likely I'll be up at 7am and home around 1am.

and what are you spending so much on that requires such masochism?

It's been on my mind for a while, but I want the package car behind me for full effect. Which means someone drives ~70 miles to take the photo, I ask some random on the street, or go to the town over where I did driver helper for a few years and use theirs instead. Maybe mad photoshop skills. But I drive the big ass one and the other guys' are smaller. Luckily what I'm driving now is an automatic.

My record was 60 hours in a week, which was fucking retarded and I can't imagine doing that shit again.

If its overnight work with a lot of strenuous lifting anyway. An office job would be less demanding (physically), but it would still suck nads.

Back to back 12 hour shifts Sun night - Thurs night. Never again.

This thread puts our recent student protests into perspective. You guys have it pretty bad, but holy shit we're entitled in this country.

I was talking to one of those Canadians about minimum wage laws today. He tells me that minimum wage in Canada is CN$10+ (versus ~US$8 here).

Including currency valuation, cost of rent and utilities, and social services, that means that the poorest working Canadians have around twice the standard of living we do. Maybe more, maybe much more.

And their country is not about to go belly-up from "welfare", "entitlement", and "laziness".
Because clearly that's what's wrong with this country. Clearly, the "free market" guarantees the highest standard of living.

You know that South Park episode where they narrate the Scientology Universe Myth with the caption "THIS IS WHAT SCIENTOLOGISTS ACTUALLY BELIEVE"?

This is what libertarians actually believe. It's that level of mass insanity.

Having worked two jobs quite a bit in the past (and I may again just for some extra cash this summer) here is what I learned.

1. Clothes, lay them out at the start of the week, everything, and I mean everything. There is nothing more annoying that running around the house looking for a pair of socks on work day number 6. Also if you have to iron anything do it all at once.

2. Food, do not eat fast food. Number one its horrible for you. And number two you piss away so much money it is not funny. Try not to rely on energy drinks or shit of that nature (yes that includes coffee) because when you come down from the energy buzz you crash hard.

3. If you are young and single, stay that way until hours level out. If you have wife and kids you must make time for them or hear a lot of bitching and complaining.

4. As mentioned elsewhere in this post, set aside one day for just sleep. Crash like hell, eat what you want, sit in your pajamas all day, and dont take a shower until 7 pm.

5. Also, make sure your jobs know you are working two places. Nothing will kill you faster than one boss assuming that you have no problem staying three hours late when you are stressing out like fuck because you were suppose to be at the other job two hours ago.

Also, on a note of number 5, try if at all possible not to make them back to back shifts. If you can squeeze an hour or two just to space out you will stay sane a whole lot longer. I worked two jobs in our local mall during Christmas about ten years ago and made it clear that when my shift was over I had to go and it was much smoother than the year before when everyone assumed I liked working 90 hours a week dealing with fucktards.

Enjoy.

9 level 90s and 10 85s, Damn I need another hobby.

I agree with Bane.

Also worth noting, some companies offer tuition reimbursement for their employees. I'd suggest trying to find one of these places and get a job there if your field of study is covered in their reimbursement plan and if you're paying for your education via loans. I'm not sure if the immediate gains of more money, right now are as great at these places, but I know getting large percentages of your tuition reimbursed is nice. If one of these reimbursement jobs pays slightly less, it still might be within your interest, since you'll be collecting pay and saving on the cost of school.
