Blaine is quite intelligent and energetic but aloof and unstable (a description which ofc fits me as well). He does not understand most achievements, as you say, because he didn't play pre-Cata and thus has no real understanding of how the content is actually supposed to be done.

I find it strange that it comes as a surprise or somehow unreasonable to you that he, I, or anyone else is doing Ulduar or ICC only to farm the mounts. Obviously, people form pugs and offer gold, go to the trouble, in the service of their own interests - why should they be a charity organization for others? If you want specific achievements, why don't you form your own raid, or offer Blaine some sort of incentive (such as help from your friends and guildies, or your gratitude and promise to reciprocate) to do what you want?

Recuperation is a sociopath plain and simple. He is a rager, but more than that, he makes a point of trying to make friends with everyone by kissing up to them, then stabs them in the back and deliberately betrays their friendship over petty stakes that aren't even worth it. This is not merely my personal experience; I've seen him behave this way towards several other people.

Lots of people do that over the internet. The interaction is perceived as less real, so the fallout is deemed a lesser problem.

I am definitely still coming, the past 3 days have been a whirlwind and though I'm home now, I'm leaving again in like 20 minutes for the evening, jesus christ. I'll try my best to get on tomorrow, but I have to work + I'm going to be out most of the night so I'm not sure if/when. Yay for sunday off though

So *some of you* have read and/or heard the Elegance story.

Today I talked to Elegance again (who had "gotten over" it) and said that we would have a special guest this week. She demanded to know who it was and refused to come if it was a girl. I demurred and prevaricated, but she insisted on knowing. I repeatedly assured her that the person would not be objectionable.

Elegance said that she didn't want to attend because other girls were attention whores and tried too hard to "put themselves out there" (which could not be a more apt description of Elegance herself). The truth, of course, was that she simply could not handle sharing the stage with another girl, and having to deal with someone she couldn't enthrall by flirting.

Then again, perhaps my whimsical notion to put Elegance in a vent with Zaryi and Gemgirl (with the former reading the story I've written) was really onto something.

Elegance insisted that she was not "insecure", just that she was very "over-competitive". I replied that competitive people do not fear competition. She said she wasn't afraid of other women, just despised them.

I then said that it seemed to me she was insecure as she was in the habit of telling ridiculous lies about her own capabilities (perhaps most amusingly, she once claimed she was going to draw an amazing picture of Aestu, then tried to pass off an Azazel picture as her own), and that she chose to date an extraordinarily unintelligent person (who gems entirely monochromatic). Her boyfriend, who never socializes with her in-game, is from what I know a boytoy kind of guy, physically impressive but weakwilled and unintelligent.

She got very insulted at this and demanded an apology. I replied that she had insulted my friends by refusing to associate with them and leaping to judgement about their character. She said she had not meant to insult them; I said nor did I mean to insult her boyfriend, merely made a statement of fact. This went back and forth with typical female hypocritical nonsense until she took me off RealID.

Oh well. It's too bad she won't be coming. It would have been funny.
(Especially since Elegance is intensely racist, in the manner implied in last week's story).

Then again, Zaryi hasn't resubbed yet, either. Which is just as well. I think I have a date with a Nigerian girl tomorrow. Yes, Nigerian. No, I didn't pick her up on a bus; I picked her up at the bus stop. Yes, really. Whether I push the date forward to Monday or not depends on my mood and Zaryi's sub status. Though really I think this is Zaryi herself playing bait-and-switch again. We'll see.
