private servers are silly
the only fun i ever had on one was running around and roguing nerds to death that just spent the entire time dueling in pve gear

This. It also had a decent community, especially towards the beginning-mid of its duration.

And I'll add that Corecraft's forums looks promising, if the civil tones of the discussions and exchanges of ideas are any measure of gauging community.

Taking an extended hiatus from gaming

Eh Scriptcraft was fun for the time I played it, but yeah pulled a Grim and realized the only reason I played WoW for so long was the community. Got sick of the tanks/players leaving because we weren't progressing fast enough because the same people complaining wouldn't show up to raids...buuuuut I'll do Sunwell again, 10-25 man raids were fun....40 mans fun if you could get people to log on.

TBC ZA was the shit. Cataclysm ZA was awful. In Cataclysm, all the bosses died before my short CDs ended. TBC ZA was actually challenging and fun. I'd be down for these shenanigans, but I know nothing of scriptcraft. Are there raid characters with t4 gear or something?
