I sold Unusual hats in TF2 for $60 and $140 respectively and they didn't even have "good" effects. I don't see how this is any different. Glengarry Bonnet with Hearts and a Stout Shako with Shearing Plasma.

i guess i had hopes no playerbase would have such a level of downs as the TF2 community ever again.

Ironically, I may be the only person to come out of this thread more interested in D3 than when it began.

You don't even have to play the game.

Technically speaking you can play the Auction House just like in WoW

-know what price to place items at
-know what stats are good/fotm
-know prices
-know how to handle your dollars

How do we know Blizzard aren't buying items and selling?
Troll
For example; John Doe sells item for $212.50 (15% of $250- Blizzard receives $37.50), Blizzard resells item for full amount of $250
intended
Conspiracy theory.

If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little.

why would they do that, when they can just spawn the item in question?

and who really believes they don't do it?

So in effect you're saying the RMAH and BMAH are exactly the same thing. Interesting to look at it that way. I'm afraid I have to admit that hadn't occurred to me.

The question, then, remains: exactly how rare are the items in question?

You have to be lucky to get a certain item.
You then have to be lucky to get a certain prefix on that certain item.
You then have to be lucky to get the right numbers on the item.

It's a fraction of a fraction of a fraction, pretty much.

there was a thread, probably deleted by now, that Bashiok admitted the drop rates were intentionally low and that it would encourage the use of the AH. i don't really play, but judging by the fact that, even before the RMAH was implemented, people deemed it 100% required to use the AH to even progress in inferno, i'd say pretty bad.

i dunno, it could be changed by now.

edit: doing some googling, people are going full conspiracy theorist on this, so take this thread with a grain of salt. also doesn't have the quote i was talking about, i'll try to find a screengrab somewhere. https://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic ... 638?page=1

man this thread sucks. back to more google.

something actually unique in MMOs

If you play TF2, someone bought a Burning Team Captain for $1000.

If you don't, someone bought a digital M. Bison hat that had flames coming out of it for $1000.

EDIT: Don't forget the dozens of people that bought a $200 diamond ring just to make a joke that got spammed to everyone who was playing TF2 at the time, since it shows your screename and you can name said item.

The best one was "Anne Frank" has accepted "Adolph Hitler" 's "Apology". Congratulations!

it's not going to be in a real "playable" state for some time, this was just more of a proof of concept that it is doable, since everyones been playing the whole "LOL IT'S NOT POSSIBLE BLIZZ 1 PIRATES 0". the scene group behind it is already updating it though and is mentioning writing an auto updater to update shit once a week for the game client.

also yeah, another guy sold a weapon earlier for $250. i don't get how desperate you have to be.
