I've been thinking about that a lot. I need to get in the habit of reading more and dicking around in worthless games less. It's hard breaking out of a rut.

Breaking out is the easy part. It's breaking in that's the hard part.

For League, I strongly recommend picking it up with someone else at the same time. The learning curve is fine as you'll be matched against similarly skilled opponents(you might hit awkward games at the beginning with good people on new accounts, but it'll straighten itself out after a few games). Pick it up w/ someone else because playing with friends is better than alone, but I enjoy solo-queue too so that might be fine for you, idk. The person you play with should also be new because if they have a fair amount of experience they'll ruin your matchmaking by placing you against more skilled opponents than you should be facing and that could burn you out on the game really quick.

Try out wakfu maybe, you could kill a few days on that probably and not regret it.

edit: if you mean garen he's not that amazing. Will probably do very well in low level though.

Must mean Garen. He isn't bad but at what I guess I'll reluctantly call 'higher level play' he can be countered in top lane(the lane which he is generally played at 'higher level play'). His skill ceiling isn't particularly high and doesn't require low ping to do good with him, I think he's a good starting point for trying out a bruiser/tank.

You can use guides to get a vague idea of how to build a character in terms of skill order and items, runes and masteries don't really exist as low levels so don't worry too much about that. If you decide to do this I suggest using solomid.net, looking up whatever champion and look at featured/approved guides and use one made in the last 6 months with a decent approval rating as any older than that are less reliable due to patches and such. Guides aren't the end all be all of perfect math or anything, it's just nice to use them to get a feel for a champion and then you can try out different things and figure out what you would like to do from there. The in-game suggested item build isn't awful in general but it's somewhat retarded for some champions.

PS: Runes won't matter much at your summoner level but when you decide to buy them(if you stick with the game) only buy tier 1 runes until you hit summoner lvl 20 and then only buy tier 3. You can skip tier 1 if you want and just save for tier 3/champions, but tier 2 is retarded and a waste of influence points and shouldn't be gotten by anyone ever.

You guys make me sad.

Dota2 signup

You could also buy your way into the game for $40 bucks(also comes with a bunch of armor skins if that does anything for you)

Wtf... is lag an issue in LoL ?

Dota/Dota2 > knock offs and the pro's play Single Draft(your choice out of 3 random heroes, 1 STR, 1 Int and 1 agy)/Random Draft(teams take turns picking from a pool of 20 random heroes, It's a 2/2/1 I think), playing All Pick(choose what ever the fuck you want) is great for learning the game and how to play different heroes/what different items do though. But I would probly just peek at http://www.dota2.com/heroes/ to get an idea(you could even random in and then look up the hero you choose in the 2.5 mins before the game really starts).

Question for you LoL (and I am laughing) people, did you play Dota on WC3(release date 2003) or was LoL(late 2009)/HoN(early 2010) your introduction to the game type ?

If you're lagging it will make landing skillshots even more difficult than it already is.

Personal of course, league servers are generally fine.

They're like wow though and have their bad days.

I generally play as Vayne, Ashe, or Janna. Sometimes Morgana if we're missing a good mid.
