Flash isn't a valid reason anymore. They are removing support

It was my understanding that with HTML5 coming down the pike, it wouldn't matter, because the stuff that makes Flash work would be native for most browsers.

HTML5 when finished will supplant Flash for things like video and design because its vastly superior and wont require constant fucking updates like Flash. As far as tablets go Android has access to all three major e-book collections: Barnes and Noble, Amazon and Google Books so you get to pick whatever you want plus there is bitorrent and the host of jacked pdf documents (lots of tasty technical material). Since most things are going to streaming now the space concerns are becoming less and less until the app developers get on board with the PC dev mentality of bigger is better and start hogging up piles of space for apps. If you really are concerned about the space constraints there are also options like Dropbox for cloud storage but just remember that anything you put up there can potentially be stolen as Cloud security is not bullet-proof by any means.

will things that use flash now be converted into html5? and how far off is this anyway?

and how does cloud storage work anyway? like, if I have 100 movies in the cloud, and I only need 5, I can take 5 and put them on the tablet and then swap em out as I see fit? and I'm assuming I need internet for that too, so that wouldn't work on long trips would it..

HTML5 doesn't magically make all previous flash based things disappear. It's still a long ways away.
